They upped the speed of the project after he died because he retained some control over the direction of the show. With him out of the picture, they were able to do whatever they wanted with the show.

Like include an LGBT storyline and making the show centered around a single mother.

The promo doesn’t even look like Martha’s Vineyard. More like a story set in Alpharetta with the gaudy homes and cars.

The black elite died out and the ones who remain are just as cash strapped as middle class white people. You have more upstarts like the Obamas stepping into places they thought were for their fair-skinned, white passing children. I’m not surprised LOG sold his book, he wasn’t earning enough chronicling the black elite. They also shut him down on writing a book about black conservatives as Republicans because they didn’t want that attention. Hollywood money would be faster and he’d have name recognition beyond a small circle of social climbing negros who read his books.

And I know this because I too am a (somewhat reformed) black social climber. I was raised by a single parent, too dark, dropped out of college, but still date their sons. They love to mention all of their degrees and Ivy League connections but they have just as little liquid cash as me.

yeah their grasp has lessened to the lowest ever due to the boom of Blacks climbing the ladder as College access has widened + Black Athletes and Entertainers seeing a boom compared to pre 1970s. We are at a day and age where at HBCUs most kids think going greek is some loser ish for folks who want friends compared to the past. So now you see the children of the 'elites' buying into ratchet culture, not having a sense of urgency of continuing the wealth thus squandering away what was built. Folks dont even go to church anymore which was a big pillar in this world too (going to 'elite' black churches).

interesting times.

Yes he was a part of the team of producers in the project but they turned it into a "Bougie Empire" type show right after he died and was out of the way. The book is some other other "eyes wide shut" type shyt not some basic sensationalize cheaply made soap opera
