A woman having a fiance means a woman is engaged to MARRY a spouse
so her saying she doesn't want marriage yet is happy with being fiancé is a contradiction. There's a reason why this thread is so deep despite it only being a few days since the news broke -- it's a sex scandal. That's going to generate more attention than almost everything else, especially since it's unfolding like a film and everyone is eagerly awaiting what's to come in the third act. As I told cats in the TLR thread of this topic, if Udoka got in trouble for some shyt like tampering, it wouldn't have everyone gossiping like this.

The more I’m reading the more it seems like the Celtics didn’t want to fire him because he’s a good coach. If it was a bum like Luke Walton or something they’d have fired him.

The Boston Celtics made the appropriate decision to suspend coach Ime Udoka for an entire season over his intimate relationship with a female member of the organization, owner Wyc Grousbeck said Friday, telling a news conference there “was enough there to take an action.”
“This felt right, but there’s no clear guidelines for any of this,” Grousbeck said when asked if Udoka should have been fired. “This is really a conscious, gut feel and being here 20 years.”
He added that nobody else in the organization is facing penalty or reprimand.
The team suspended Udoka for the entirety of the 2022-23 season for violations of team policies, the franchise announced Thursday. The second-year coach’s punishment is a result of an intimate relationship with a female member of the organization, as The Athletic first reported Thursday morning. At that time, team leadership was led to believe by both parties that the relationship was consensual. But sources said that the woman recently accused Udoka of making unwanted comments toward her — which the team investigated through a law firm.
Grousbeck stated he received the report of the investigation on Wednesday and he consulted with various stakeholders to determine Udoka would be suspended for one season. Udoka is suspended until June 30, leaving the door open for him to return to his position at the beginning of free agency next offseason.
Joe Mazzulla, who served as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics since 2019, has been named the team’s interim coach.
During the conference, Grousbeck yielded questions regarding Udoka’s future, stating that the coach’s suspension comes with “a significant financial penalty when you net it all out,” though the governor did not specify whether it is fully unpaid. He said the Celtics will make a decision on Udoka’s future at a later time.
Grousbeck also confirmed that the Celtics hired a law firm to handle the internal investigation into the intimate relationship issue when it was identified during the summer. While he wouldn’t say if the investigation determined Udoka’s behavior was harmful to others or just a violation of policy, Grousbeck said there were “a volume of violations.” He added that no one else in the organization is facing a penalty or reprimand in the investigation.
Mazzulla, who has been an assistant coach with the team for three seasons, will take over for Udoka just days before training camp. While he is renowned as a rising star in the coaching ranks, his prior arrest on a domestic violence charge has raised concerns considering the nature of Udoka’s suspension. He faced multiple disciplinary issues, including the arrest on the domestic violence charge, at a club in 2009. Mazzulla, who was suspended from the basketball team for four months, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct and was assessed 40 hours of community service and a $100 fine in August 2009, the Times West Virginian reported at the time.
President of basketball operations Brad Stevens said the vetting process for Mazzulla was very thorough.
“I will tell you this: I believe strongly in Joe’s substantiveness as a person,” he said, “I believe strongly that that probably shaped him into who he is today in a really, really good way. But he’ll be the first to tell you, he’s 110 percent accountable for that, and I’ll be the first to tell you that I believe in him.”
Though he coached the Celtics from 2013-2021, Stevens was adamant that he would not return to his former position in any situation. Grousbeck said he broached the idea with Stevens, but it was promptly dismissed.
“I told Joe I’m going to be there for him without stepping on any toes,” Stevens said.
The Celtics open training camp on Sept. 27, with the majority of their NBA Finals team back for another run at the title. They open the season Oct. 18 with a home game against the 76ers.
