Heres my review of the film.

The Bobby Brown Story is way DARKER than the New Edition. The New Edition film focused more on their musical careers whereas they focused more on Bobby's personal life here. They were aiming for the fukkery crowd and boy did it deliever on that aspect!

Within the first 30 minutes of the movie, You're introduced into stabbings, shootouts, baby mama drama, record label drama, and that set the tone for what this whirlwind was gonna become.

This is NOT a family friendly film and Im surprised it didn't receive a R Rating based off the sex scenes but it was what Bobby was really living. Sex, Drugs, Music, and money. Brown literally epitomized Y.O.L.O. and this is what the film focused on.

We also find out things that wasn't really known(unless you're in the industry or read his book). Like Whitney's alleged lesbian relationship with Robin, Bobby allowing Whitney to run his assets through her company(Which is possibly why they couldn't get clearance for the songs for the movie so Woody sung them his self). We get detailed insides about his relationship with Janet Jackson which made social media go wild. Plus we also seen what caused his downfall.

The actors for the most part did well. Woody should literally get a Emmy for potraying Bobby. Phifer as always delievers, The shorty who played Whitney did her thing and the rest of the cast did a great job.

My complaints however is there are seems that felt rushed and like many films they be off with the timeline. I wish they got more indepth with his musical transition from Don't be Cruel to Bobby to Forever. They should have also made Bobby age more because he basically looked like he was in his 20s through the whole movie.

Overall I enjoyed it. Great Job BET

I can understand due to budget and timing for it feel rushed at times. Even though the two part biopic is 5 hours long with commercials. You cannot seamlessly cover everything within a 30 year span. There will be edits, things left out and things that will be glossed over. It's hard than in cinema in meeting time constraints, so it's understandable with the rush parts.

And despite New Edition overall have not age SINCE the 1990's (BBD, Ralph and Johnny all haven't aged)...the exception was Bobby and it's more of the drugs, the weight gain and the alcoholism. But it's a movie which mostly tracked the sound track. I don't think they had the time or the budget to put serious changes on age.

But we can all agree BET is 2 for 2.

The last 3rd of the movie was typical BET ish. It doesn't even feel like the same move from Pt 1 and the beginning of Pt 2. That is became a highlight reel.

im about to watch the movie a lil later.

but im not surprised. they rushed part 3 of the new edition movie, and then ended the movie mad early.

Oh yessss :blessed:.
BTW I checked the credits on IMDB and saw the dude that played Pac in All Eyes On Me is in this. Anybody know what’s that about? I know it’s rumored Pac had something going on with Whitney. Never knew him and Bobby met with each other

bobby said it himself in his book said that whitney cheated on him with 2pac and a number of producers.

but bobby & pac were friends. bobby even shouted him out at the lady of soul awards when pac got shot in vegas.

maybe he found out after pac died....either that or bobby n whitney were some swingers.

I ain't know Alicia and Bobby went back this far
I figured she had always been around and they knew each since they was both apart of the music scene but I ain't know they was friends like that
Alicia seem like a real good woman :wow:

Her actress was good af too. You could cut the sexual tension in that bathroom scene with a knife. Even when she was telling him to go be with Whitney you could see it was tearing her up inside that it wasn’t her instead.

Part 1 > Part 2. First part felt way more cohesive and put together. Part 2 seemed rushed, same thing happened with the New Edition movie trying to fit everything in there.

BET really needs to release both biopics in full on blu-ray because I’m pretty sure there were lots of parts cut out just to make it on TV.

On another note, there were a few details I wished they addressed in the movie:

Bobby Browns close relationship with Ralph Tresvant. Ralph (supposedly) recorded Every Little Step during one of Bobby’s Coke binges, and Bobby was all over the promotion for Ralph’s debut solo, appearing in two of his videos (Sensitivity and Stone Cold Gentleman)

Bobby going full M. Bison on 227,

....and doing a bicycle kick out of a helicopter in Thug Lovin.

She was a groupie hoe and an ex druggie herself. She was a side lice during his Whitney marriage.

I remember where I was when Whitney passed. Went to the mall late af, but started feeling sick so I left. Got home, laid down, and looked TV. Next thing I know my mom talking bout she passed. I hit the :dahell::mindblown: and switched to some random channels to see if it was true and peeped Twitter :to:
Wasn’t Blu Ivy born the same time that’s Whitney passed ?

Remember Pac lived in Atlanta also. They kicked it together when Pac was on Death Row too. Don't forget Suge started as Bobby's bodyguard too.

Bobby probably could've gotten 6 million for Thug Lovin' if he would've asked being that 6 million probably won't shyt to Irv at the time
But being that some time had passed since Bobby was the man and at that point he was no longer at the peak of his career, I get why he only asked for 1 million
