The turbos are warrantied for 8 years/80K outside of the regular warranty because all N54s will have wastegate issues. Its a $3-4K repair because if the WGs go bad, both turbos have to come out and get replaced by new turbos. No belt service. It uses a timing chain.

hmm so 8/80k after the 4yr/40/50k or including?

Do you have to cover labor if they grenade?

I forgot about the injectors. Those are like $100 a piece. I think all 6 have to be replaced if one goes bad and then they have to be programmed to the car. :laff:

just read ten pages, sounds like a complete shyt show. I don't have the patience or interest/time to fight with SA's etc for months.

I really want one, I think I'll just spend the extra 5/10k and get an S4..

Might as well. At least you'll get to enjoy it.

Yeah, a that's a big part of owning a car. It's also supposed to offer you some utility.
Like I just went and got a bagel for lunch, a baguette, and some tilapia(so I can make escovitch fish for dinner for Becky tonight). If my turbos went I wouldn't be able to do that. I suppose I could ride my bike? I would have a 600mo paperweight sitting in front of my townhouse? Very conflicting.

Its a complete crap shoot with these cars.. I spent the extra money and bought an extended warranty on top of my current CPO warranty because I had been lurking the E90 forums and read about the exact same things. The issues that JK is going through are in my future and it seems almost unavoidable. Similar to him though I'll probably be ditching it as soon as those problems start coming up and warranties start expiring.

With that said though its been a year and I haven't had any complaints and as far as I can see its a great car that excels in many catergories (when its running). Its keeping the dam thing running that seems to be the major complaint.

@JKFrazier going back to GM? CTS V? XTS?

I'm dumping this car this time next summer.

Just got my car out of the dealer for a new HPFP and there's no way I could afford to keep it going at this rate out of warranty.

I'm at 68K and have owned the car since 44K. If I didn't have CPO, I'd be out around $4K I think. That's unacceptable. Here's what I've had done at the dealer so far.

HPFP
Valve cover gasket
Control arm bushings
Fuel pressure sensor
Electric water pump
Thermostat
Oil filter gasket
Intake manifold cleaning

That's not counting changing the spark plugs and regular maintenance/gas.

I'm hoping the turbos fail soon so they can go ahead and change those out too. Well then again, it won't matter.

I don't understand all your grumbling about maintenance cost for a car that is at least 7 years old (335s in general). I bought my '07 with 42k miles and currently have 67k on a car that is way more modified than yours and I haven't had any of the issues you are reporting. My HPFP and injectors were both replaced under recall and that's it. I guarantee your HPFP was replaced under the recall warranty and I have yet to see nowhere near the issue with the revised HPFP that there was with the original. The other common maintenance items that you have already addressed: Water pump/Thermostat, Oil filter gasket, and Valve cover gasket are all replacements that are good for at least 50k-60k, so miles once taken care of it will be years before these parts will likely be an issue again. Since you have already gotten all of the major fixes out of the way, your car would be the perfect car for someone looking for a used 335i to buy..lol

My advise to anyone planning to be a335 is this, take the time to research the maintenance records of any car you are planning to buy and have a mechanic check the car out before you buy it.

It's 5 years old. To have to replace that many parts on any car in that time span is ridiculous even if they are common problems or under warranty for the N54 E9x.

I keep up with it 10x more than my cars before it without the return. If the wastegates start rattling after I pass 82K, I'm screwed. I'm not taking that chance.
shyts gone next spring/summer. Great driving car but they can have it. :camby:
