This is me. By far the hardest scene to watch was the dad beating his daughter, her acting was INCREDIBLE in that scene, like upper echelon levels of acting.

I fukking loved this movie, but agree with the general Coli consensus that it's not really a horror film. More a supernatural thriller.

I was wondering if the kids were the same kids as Sinister 1 or 2, but I couldn't find any info.

What was kinda wacky is the girls dreams and the cops basically being worthless as fukk, I guess the payoff to this is the penultimate scene where the police chief has them take all of the credit for solving this case :russ: if Joe Hill is anything like his pops then this was a big middle finger to the police.

The movie is super succesful, so wouldn't be surprised to see a sequel or prequel. Hope they don't fukk it up like they did with Sinister 2.
I think a prequel makes sense. They could go into the killer's origin story and how he came to be.

How would a sequel play out with how the film ended?

No idea, but:

Scott Derrickson told Comicbook.com, "Joe Hill pitched me a wonderful idea for a sequel to Black Phone that, if this movie does well, I'm gonna do it. He's got a great idea, I really liked it. Joe's very protective and personal about his material, but he came to me with the idea and I was like, 'That's how you do a sequel to Black Phone. That's terrific.'"

^^Interesting they have an idea for a sequel, as the film really felt like a one and done that didn't need exploring further.

Just finished watching as it hit Peacock, overall thought it was :ehh: building up to a nice finish. Ethan Hawke plays deranged well, but agree about the kid actors being good.

Finn with the mint arm :wow:

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
I saw it yesterday in the theater although it’s streaming on Peacock (more on this in a moment). I enjoyed it. I liked how in the end he had to use bits and pieces of all the stuff he got from the boys to survive: the window frame, rug, the hole he dug, hell — even the meat in the fridge.

So, I saw this joint with a lady and this was our second time hanging out. First date was cool. It ended with a couple pop kisses. This was about two weeks ago. We see this today, and when we were walking to our cars she stated she enjoys hanging with me, but doesn’t think we’re a romantic match. “I was going to tell you this today.” I literally hit the :gucci:. Not because she said that. I have a whole roster so I’m not interested in that, and I deaded that as soon as I got home when I could respond accordingly. But, bih you couldn’t tell me that BEFORE the movies? I could’ve watched this joint at home! The nerve! :gucci:

There's a spoiler button breh
But there's no need to use spoilers in a movie discussion thread

He was able to beat him using all the info he got from the other victims, that was the point

I know, but he made quick dinner of him, just felt effortless. He didnt seem much of a threat.

This was good. I slept. Not as much horror as it was a thriller, with some supernatural elements...but good nonetheless.

I really liked it. Good performances all around.

The only thing I lol’d at was the kids beating the shyt out of each other. Literally kid gets smashed in the head with a rock and is bleeding out and everyone goes back to school like it was a big deal this girl fractured a boys skull and a kid is walking around with bloody knuckles. Come on, it’s 1970’s Denver not the slums of Rio. Bullying is psychological and emasculation not karate kid bullies trying to kill you. It ruined the first quarter of the movie that could’ve been spent developing the father and killer.

Movie was good. The boy looks just like a younger version of an adult actor whose name I cannot recall
