Early life

Born to Jackie Peace and Robert Douglas, Robert Peace grew up in East Orange, New Jersey, which borders Newark. His parents didn't live together, and his father sold drugs. Rob's father was involved in his son's life, but Rob lived with his mother and her family. His mother worked long hours at low-paying jobs and sacrificed to send Peace to St. Benedict's Preparatory School, a private middle and high school. When Rob was seven, his father was arrested and charged with murder, convicted, and sent to prison.[4] Rob visited him often in prison until his father's death there, when Rob was in his mid-20s.

Yale University

After high school, Peace was sponsored by Charles Cawley, a bank executive, to attend Yale University, where he majored in molecular biophysics and biochemistry, and worked in a cancer and infectious disease laboratory. While at Yale, Peace earned over $100,000 selling marijuana.[5] Peace graduated in 2002, with honors. One of his roommates was Jeff Hobbs, the author of Peace's biography.

After graduation from Yale, Peace taught biology for four years at the Catholic high school he had attended even as he expanded his marijuana marketing and personal use of marijuana, alcohol and possibly other drugs.[5] He then worked for low wages at a major airline and traveled often.

To summarize the article incase link won't open. Dude really hustled backwards trying to live life like breaking bad:francis:. With that said they're making a film about him sometime this year.

I read this book a few times.

Smart kid from the hood, got a full ride to Yale, graduated and moved back home.

He got frustrated with the money he was making as a science teacher so he quit and used his knowledge to grow weed and become the plug.

He used to give his people speeches about how presidents like Clinton and Bush all did dirt to get to the top, and felt like what he was doing was the same as them

Eventually word got out that he was the plug and nikkas ran in his crib, had him show them his operation, then killed him and robbed him

On one hand I understand his choices but on the other he’s naive if he didn’t think the wolves were coming

His nickname in his hood was even “Yale.” Once the wolves heard some kid from Yale is in the hood supplying nikkas, that’s all it took for them to put the plan in motion unfortunately

This is why its important of us as Black men to be the example we want our children to follow.
