LOL @ baggy clothes. No one wears them anymore. This ain't 2003. Hoodrats and women raised by single mothers should be avoided for serious relationships. Black men, however, need to embrace actual HOBBIES again. Not chasing p*ssy. Not chasing low $$$, but to embrace HOBBIES that build character and individuality.

Can you give examples of such hobbies. I'd be very interested.

If you go to church and tithe,

Take that 10% and put it into a mutual fund instead. You'll retire a millionaire.

Also, if you're not eating Wingstop Lemon Pepper Wings,

Whens the last time you met anyone who played a musical instrument... that wasn't necessary to make beats...

I would suggest everyone learn some skills... balance it out... one useful one w/one "for fun" one. I.e. lite computer programming + learning an instrument...

Second of all... bettering yourself is never a bad thing, and is not an idea that is strange to non-blacks....

My race is irrelevant. I'm nothing like anyone else. Thank God.

Its irrelevant but I see u in countless threads with subtle shots at the black community. Regarding the topic at hand, teaching someone to be a man can apply to any race. Carry on and i beleive your Hispanic anyway

What I'm seeing, not from just black men but men in general, is that they have been emasculated. They no longer feel like leaders therefore they act like followers. There are many liberal people who don't believe in gender roles, but there cannot be two cooks in the kitchen or two leaders of a household. The thing that drew me to my husband was his capacity for leadership and his love for God. A man that values his chastity and seeks knowledge is incredibly attractive. Unfortunately men think that their manhood is tied to their sexuality (as do women). Really, a man is measured by his honesty, capacity of leadership, and ability to care for his wife and children.
I personally know too many amazing black men to turn this into a black man bashing thread.

black men have to understand that swagger, charisma, etc all that bullshyt will always take passenger seat to economic stability.

i hear dudes on here talking bout how they can fukk bytches without having a car, job, prospects -- and they could be right. but you cannot run a relationship, or a house just off dikk and swag. you have to be able to dominate your spouse economically as well.

also, we have to get off this expensive clothes and shoes kick. we're doing a poor job of hiding our insecurities by spending 200 dollars on shoes that cost MAYBE 5 dollars to make. we have to stop treating money like it comes with an expiration date.

we have to get out of this dumbass consumer mind state, first of all. i know a lot of us were raised by single mothers, which is why we think like women. but buying a bunch of shyt when you're not producing a bunch of shyt is setting us up for failure. how do black folks have the most buying power in america, yet we're the poorest group.

i think we've gotta start looking at how mexicans are excelling in america. many of them garden for fresh fruits and vegetables. they farm chickens and fish. then they sell the food to their own community. i know we don't have the resources to build fortune 500 businesses, but we could at least profit off the basics like food.

there's a black owned soul food restaurant up the street, they're always packed. this is the direction many of us should take when considering small businesses. there's a guy that sells popcorn out of a truck on crenshaw, dude makes 200-300 dollars a day. this is good money. we gotta stop being too cool to earn a buck the hard way.

i see a lot of coli posters started wholesaling from china, that's a good start. i sold iphone cases in 2010, started out as a hobby. but i ended up making around 50-100 day just off selling 50 cent cases, chargers, screen protectors for 5-10 bucks.
