I just refuse to believe any black person can support the Electoral College. I'm not even throwing shots. I truly don't believe it to be possible.

Democrats have won the popular vote going back the past 50 years (8 of 12 elections). The 4 years the republicans won were:
1980-84 (Reagan)
1988 (H.W. Bush)
2004 (W. Bush)

Electoral college is the only reason republicans have a chance and it gives states like Idaho and Montana representation when the rest of the country look at them as irrelevant. Those states receive more representation for their population than a state like California.

Stop with this bullshyt. Your vote counts as one vote using the popular vote. Making them all equal.

:dwillhuh: YOU GOT THIS BACKWARDS

A LARGE MASS OF VOTES
ARE IRRELEVANT DUE TO
THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE

No everyone's vote is equal if you eliminate the Electoral College because it's not about each state voting anymore. With the Electoral College many voters votes don't mean anything for the presidential election.
Not true. Making the election a popular vote would mean people living in the major cities would basically decide the vote due to population density. Whole regions would be irrelevant. I’m not saying I’m against the popular vote but the electoral college exist for a reason

Thats not true. It makes sure the smaller states' votes actually count for something...it also stops potentially tyranny from jumping off

The ONLY reason you’re talking about “states” is cuz the electoral college exists. That’s the only reason campaigns are targeted to states like this.

It may have made sense in the 1800s but in modern times, with the power of the internet and mass media, it makes no sense and is more harmful than it is beneficial. It needs to be abolished. Your vote shouldn’t count more or less depending on where you live in this country.

Understanding why the electoral college exists and supporting it are two different things. I think it’s outdated. Becuz at the end of the day who gives a fukk about somebody in Idaho’s vote? But it exists for a reason

I would love nothing more than for the electoral college being thrown out. Living in Missouri, my vote basically doesn’t matter now because it’ll go red regardless. Sucks because we used to be a swing state up to 2008.
