Agreed overall but having As Soon As I Get Home in lossless quality was worth the purchase, the Raphael Saadiq and DJ Quik remixes on that other weedplate were dope as well.

If you ever read Eminems letter to Afeni its like a child wrote it, he even drew a picture. I laughed hysterically at the time, thinking about it now being a little older and more empathetic its quite sad really.

Most of Em beats are garbage
Off top of my head the beats I enjoyed were the Stat Quo joint which was everywhere back then. Like dat.

Superman and Welcome to Detroit also.

Always wondered why nikkas were never able to reject his beats. Like, how did he convince Nas specifically that this beat had to be on his album?

I always liked the song … definitely worse beats on this album

I think Nas gets a bad rap overall for his beat selection, they all arent as bad as people say

but this one was inexcusable:francis:

1) He can get dope free beats from just about anyone
2) So what if its Em, if the shyt is weak it's weak. Would he accept a weak beat from KRS just coz it's KRS?

Ya'll make more out of situations than what they actually were. Em played Nas a beat and he was inspired to write to it. He liked it enough to put it on an album. No different than how most music gets made. Didn't matter who made it, if the artist created it a song with it, then that's that.

I think the music game was very different back then before the Internet blew up.

Now you hear beats from any producer you want just through IG, SoundCloud, whatever

Back then I think you were given an overall production budget for beats, the label would ask who you want to work with and they’d pay for studio time / beats from there. So Nas might’ve just asked for Eminem beats without knowing which beats he had cooked up for him at the time.

9th’s version is better but I’ve always hated his snares. I wish there was a way to add better snares to it. Eminem is a garbage producer so there’s no need to even talk about the beat on the cross anymore

Nas was literally in the 8 Mile soundtrack. He wasn't really an artist that picked tracks off of a CD, but went in the studio and wrote to the beat with the producer there.
