I know a bit - Chiron in Greek Mythology was a centaur who basically was a polymath. Taught Hercules the art of war and other such things. He was known as a mystic, warrior and a healer. He was immortal, but he sustained a permanent wound. So he was basically a wounded healer who could heal everyone but could not heal himself, so he asked the Gods to make him a mortal so he could die.
In the chart, Chiron is supposed to represent our deepest wounds that hurt the most, and the lessons we learn from them. Sort of like a mini Saturn. In turn, we can heal these wounds by helping others in that particular area. I need to learn a bit more about interpreting it in the context of a chart, but the cookbook stuff on the internet is really intriguing.

what about when Sun Ra is in your 8th house
When her Sun is in your house? That can indicate obsession at it's most basic. This is a person who will have significant influence on you and it will most certainly be far deeper than most unions. Like a primal attraction basically.
I have Pluto in the 8th house (hence the username) so any planet close to that will have a significant influence. Perhaps that's why I love Scorpio girls so much as Scorpio rules my 8th house....

I don't really understand it. I don't think it really applies to me.
It might be the abandonment part and I am not fully conscious of it because my IC is in Saggitarius and I relate to that, not connecting with my family. I feel like I'm too different. I'm a Gemini in a family full of Capricorns.

That's quite understandable - the 12th house represents the unconscious, the hidden and the "inner universe within" (as I heard someone describe it lol) so it's difficult to actually nail down how it effects you because you may not be consciously aware of the effects. It's important to also note that with some placements there are people who don't experience the usual outcomes associated with the ones in their natal. I always say free will trumps fate.
It's possible that Chiron placements are more pertinent depending on the aspects it makes and can depend on the ruler of the house it is in rather than Chiron itself. Natal charts are weird like that.
I have a Chiron in Cancer in the 4th house and I didn't completely relate to it either. Still kinda don't - but I'm sure it will become clearer after some time.
EDIT: If there are no planets in Leo, best thing to do would be to see which house Leo is on the cusp of and find what house Leo's ruler (The Sun) is in.
