They're both fantasy novels. One of them is fantasy/mystery - it's a first-person story of a magical detective who's down on his luck and struggling with alcoholism because of a deep-rooted sense of imposter syndrome. His whole life he'd been waiting for his big break on a high-paying case and he thinks he's found it. However, it'll turn out he's gotten himself involved in a deep conspiracy with world-changing repercussions.
I pitched it to publishers but they told me that it was good but they refused to pick it up. So I wanna make my own way to get my story out there.
Both novels feature black male protagonists. One thing I noticed in the industry is that there legit are barely any black characters with a backbone or who take a leading role. Usually, we're relegated to either being the comic relief second-fiddle, or the SJW romanticized "magical negro". It's not real. It's not raw.
I wanna change that and make role models for black kids/young adults who are reading and wanna see people who look like them and represent them in a positive light.
AMC popping off would be incredible for me to get that done.
