Westgate Mall will reopen in July, 21 months after it was attacked and destroyed by terrorists, director Alex Trachtenberg has said.

In a statement issued after an inter-denominational prayer service hosted at the Westgate Shopping Mall foyer, Trachtenberg said that tenants had begun taking up space at the mall and will soon be moving in to start outfitting their stores ahead of the reopening.

"As the Management and Directors' of Westgate Mall alongside our esteemed tenants, we are today joined in this interdenominational thanksgiving and prayer service as we prepare for the reopening sometime in July," Trachtenberg said.

Giant retailer Nakumatt was the anchor tenant of the mall. Nakumatt's managing director Atul Shah said the firm will start working on finishes and fittings of its Westgate store next week as it gears up for the reopening.

a gold digger allegedly tried it with a real balla and got dumped .....

Laila's eyes and ears were busy minding their business and reading the word of God when a strange North East wind from the lucid grapevine blew some hot gist about Sylvia and Dangote over.

Now lets start from the very beginning

Earlier this week, the internet was agog with reports that former beauty queen Sylvia Nduka, was gearing up to get hitched to Africa’s richest man, billionaire Aliko Dangote.

The reports are true as Sylvia was actually a share holder in Dangote's Harem. She travels to any country in the world on his luxury private jet. Gets pampered in some of the most exotic hotels and locations in the world. pricey designer labels (bags, shoes, clothes), good measures, pressed down, shaken together and running over, was what Dangote poured into her laps and her closet!

When she released that the hussle was tougher than she thought, She changed her dressing to wearing Hijabs and Burqua even though she hates covering up the Islamic way. But becoming Mrs Dangote no be beans so she embraced hijabs and was seen a few weeks back sweating profusely at a function yet she kept the hussle on all in a bid to con Aliko into dumping others and wifing her up. When that didnt work, she consulted her beauty queen BFF and the planning went deeper
.

Sensing that the Oshiomhole/Iara wedding would be a good season to pressure Dangote into marriage. The ex beauty queen acting on the catastrophic advice of her friend called Ene, went ahead and leaked the fake news of an impending marriage between them. An act that did not go down well with the very conservative Dangote who allegedly warns members of his harem against publicity. The love struck Sylvia even went further by adding Aliko Dangote’s initials to her Instagram page, calling herself Sylvia Nduka AD.

However, she deleted it after news broke about their not-so-secret whirlwind romance and Dangote became angry and would not take her calls.

An anonymous insider added:

"She wanted to be Mrs Dangote so bad and she is willing to do anything but this latest stunt has backfired. Dude wont pick her call but she is trying hard and Very soon he will forgive her because they have something special and she lied ti him that she was not behind the leak. The only problem is that she is just a small fish considering the calibre of women who make up the harem. She stands no chance"

220,000 Nigerians Apply For U.S. Visa In 2014 – U.S. Embassy

Abuja – The U.S. Mission in Nigeria says that no fewer than 220,000 Nigerians applied for non-immigrant visas in 2014.
The Chief Consular Officer of the U.S. Embassy, Ms Stacie Hankins, made this known at a media tour in Abuja on Wednesday.

Hankins said its Consular Section approved 66 per cent of tourist visa applications.
She explained that two in every three applicants were successful, adding refusal of visa applications and failure to make use of visa had no disadvantage on the applicants.

She also said the U.S. Mission received more than 138,578 applications for non-immigrant travel to the U.S. for the 2015 fiscal year, which started in October, 2014.

“Fiscal year 2014 ended Sept. 30, 2014 and Lagos and Abuja together processed about 220,000 non-immigrant visa applications.
“Fiscal year 2015 started Oct. 1, 2014 and from then till date, we’ve processed about 138,000 non-immigrant visa applications.
Hankins said the Abuja Consular Office processed about 400 visa applications everyday from Monday to Friday, while the Lagos Consulate office processed about 900 applications daily.

She said that cases of visa racketeering had been received while cases of fraudulent activities had been reported to the police, which had made arrests and detained the suspects.

The consular chief warned Nigerians against patronising visa racketeers, advising them to always provide the required information correctly while applying online.

According to her, those who are denied visas can re-apply after six months.
A successful visa applicant, Dr Iyke Mbaka, said some Nigerians were denied visas because they could not provide enough reasons why they wanted to travel to the U.S.

“You must show who you are, you must give reasons why you want to leave the country.
“Some people come to the embassy without having enough reasons to show why they want to travel to the U.S and you must identify yourself.
“You must have a means of livelihood and you must show evidence that when you leave this country, you are going to come back to this country,” Mbaka said.

Another applicant, Mrs Eucharia Joseph, who also had a successful interview, said she was able to prove that she had a source of livelihood, is a mother and an author.

However, a student, Miss Jennifer Samson, who was not successful, said she did not understand why she was denied visa.
“I told them about the school that I wanted to go and study but at the end of the day, I was denied visa,” she said.
Mr Kareem Oyedele, who was also not successful at the interview, said he had traveled to Switzerland, India and South Africa without any stress at the Embassy and High Commissions.

Oyedele, however, said that he would not apply for the visa any time soon as he did not want to go through such disappointment.

In power shift, Nigeria's Adesina wins thrilling continental battle for AfDB presidency
28 MAY 2015 19:15M&G AFRICA WRITER

New AfDB president Adesina: Said he wanted to “finish off the white elephants”, in a reference to useless luxury projects that are often financed using international aid, and which reek of corruption. (Photo/AFP).

NIGERIA’S Akinwumi Adesina was Thursday elected new president of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in a thrilling vote that saw major heavyweights from North Africa and southern Africa were stripped away early in the opening rounds.

The dapper bow-tie wearing Agriculture and Rural Development minister will be a popular choice with the Africanist policy community, but will also provide a major boost for Nigeria’s flagging geopolitical ambitions, with a new president set to be sworn-in on May 29.

He has widely heralded innovations in hugely improving his country’s often-precarious food security position, but was not as steeped in finance as some of his rivals, the majority of who were all serving or former finance ministers.

He however had arguably the most impressive academic credentials.

The vote

Three candidates had been left in the nerve-wracking race to head the 50-year-old bank.

Adesina, Cape Verde’s Cristina Duarte and Kordje Bedoumra of Chad were the only contestants still standing by early evening on Thursday, as AfDB governors sought a successor to Donald Kaberuka, who will have served the maximum two terms.

A winning candidate needs at least 50.01% of both the regional and non-regional votes. The latter are members who are not from Africa and wield 40% of the vote. They include the US, China, Japan and a raft of European countries and were brought in in 1982 to help boost the capital base of the bank which was at the time starved of cash.

Nigeria has the highest voting power of the bank’s members, ahead of the United States.

Sierra Leone’s Foreign Affairs minister Samura Kamara, who as finance minister led his country’s reconstruction effort, was the first to fall in the opening round, though few eyebrows would have been raised at his early exit, given his region had propped up three other stronger candidates.

But the identity of the next candidate to be eliminated was more surprising, as Ethiopia’s Sufian Ahmed tumbled out. His country’s finance and economic development minister, he had been one of the heavy-hitters expected to at least make the final rounds of voting.

Mali’s Birama Side lasted longer than forecast by analysts, becoming the third candidate to be knocked out.

Tunisia’s Jaloul Ayed was next, as North Africa lost a chance to head the bank for a third time.

The bank’s sixth president, Omar Kabbaj, is credited with instituting reforms that set the bank on its current path, while Kaberuka cemented its place as the continent’s premier development financier.

Zimbabwe’s Thomas Sakala, a former AfDB insider, tumbled out next. He had come in on the backing of southern Africa, but his bid run into headwinds when it was revealed that he had been a benefit of “primaries” which is perceived to be against bank rules.

Good Nigerian spell

Nigerians might be forgiven for thinking the country is enjoying a brilliant spell, after president-elect Muhammadu Buhari became one of only a handful of African opposition leaders to defeat an incumbent comprehensively, but perhaps one of the proudest moments was the grace with which Goodluck Jonathan accepted defeat.

Nigeria’s outgoing Finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala immediately tweeted’ “Great news! Nigeria’s Akin Adesina has won the AfDB presidency after our strong campaign! Great campaign! Great candidate!”

Beyond Adesina’s victory, his triumph signalling a significant change in continental power politics. Until recently, it was the custom that the big and richer nations kept the smaller countries happy by ceding the leadership of continental bodies to them.

The first major break from that came in 2012 when Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma was elected chairperson of the African Union Commission. South Africa is the richest country on the continent, and Nigeria its largest economy and most populous nation.

It might seem, like with the World Bank and IMF, the big boys and girls in Africa, have also finally taken over the stage by combining back-office clout with executive power.

All attention now shifts to Adesina. In early March he gave an insight into his likely agenda, telling news agency AFP in late March that he wanted to “finish off the white elephants”, in a reference to useless luxury projects that are often financed using international aid and built by foreign businessmen, and which reek of corruption.

He called for “intelligent infrastructure that is more productive, more competitive”. He also urged more cooperation across borders, pitching ideas such as an “African Google”, a transnational electricity market, and a regional stock exchange. The AfDB might just have got its first digital president.

Cruisin’
This is my first thread but, Breh's I firmly believe that giving the motherland 15 years...we could get there brehs. A lot of people outside the continent stay sleepin on whats going on in africa, but shyt:whew:. I just came back from a two week stay in NIGERIA and i am impressed. Things movin quickly brehs:sas2:. Western Media stays reportin straight negative shyt that you will still think africans live in huts and shyt and that their is no hope...But lookin at the economic improvement of these countries (especially Nigeria):whew::whew::whew:

I won't lie, there is poverty here tho, but man the poverty is overstated...people still have food to eat and a roof over there head. The one thing tho is the optimism...Nigerians aint phased brehs:mjpls:.

Take in these facts just to let you know i'm not playin

1.
phone_subscribers_africa.png

More Mobile Phone users combined than US OR EU...Nigeria alone had like 50,000 cell subscribers in 2001....today....121 million:huhldup:

2. As business is boomin your starting to see folk who emigrated and got their degrees comin back to help build the continent. Albeit the RISK is there (Lack of Stable electricity,Security) The dividends is Massive. The Untapped New Middle Class that is growing is seeing increase in demand for consumer products...Malls are just poppin out of everywhere..shyt even tho i dont like them, KFC opening store after store...(BTW Nigerian KFC with that Jollof rice:why:)...Multinational corporations are seeing the opportunity and investin hard.

3. Lastly Growth of Middle Class...A growing middle class if ya'll did not know is indicative of a growing/vibrant economy...35% of africans fall under the category as middle class ...thats different from 9% in 2001...by 2050 economists estimate those living in poverty in the continent will be under 30%..but sincerely believe it will be sooner than that. (BTW THE CHINESE ARE EVERYWHERE HERE...TAKING OVER EVERYTHING)

Basically If yall ever lookin for a place to relocate....Minimal CAC bullshyt....The continent is ripe Breh's imma finish up with some pics

This is the Lagos "THEY DONT SHOW YOU"..mind the city did not look like this a decade ago...still much to do but the improvement is real
