Don't wait for the remake. Like homeboy said there is scenes and story lines that will most likely be cut due to them being too raw for American audiences. Even on cable.
Also they color correct each episode so it looks almost like a painting. I doubt Fincher will do the same thing. It's visually the most striking series on TV today:
