Give him 7 for 170 and call it a day.
Here's a direct quote from my buddy in our group text. Him and his boss are season ticket owners, and apparently his boss knows someone plugged in.

"He wants baseball $$, not first baseman $. He sees them paying everybody, and he wants to get paid like them, I think they (the Mets) fold"

Pete's gonna get 200. It is what it is. I just hope the player development bears fruit soon. I feel like they've shown enough with some of the under the radar pitchers they've drafted (Scott/Stuart/Vasil/Hamel, Tidwell wasnt really under the radar but hes gotten better) for me to feel good about that moving forward.

Joey Votto is the only first baseman to have a $200 million contract and it was signed years ago. They're not making that money now a day. Freeman and Olson are the top paid players at 1B and Alonso isn't better than either.

Freeman's making damn near 30M a year. Olson's at 21 I believe. Pete's gonna be a lot closer to Freddie, than he is to Olson. The only way I see Pete making 'first baseman money' as opposed to 'NY Mets money' is if he's on another club.

I hear ya breh. I'm just saying I wouldn't pay him more than what Freeman and Olson are getting. Just look at 1st base deals in general. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Pete.

Yea but 40+ HR guys don't grow on trees...

According to baseball reference, an average Alonso season is 46 home runs (would be over 50 if it wasn't for covid), 118 RBI, a 118 ops+ and a .255/.344/.533 line.

He's not getting Ohtani money, but a 200 million contract isn't crazy talk. He's 28 right now. I wouldn't be shocked to see a 8 to 9 year deal between 25 to 30 a year, based off production and the fact that's he's a home grown fan favorite.
