It wasn't a bad idea. Short term and hope there's something left in the tank. It would have worked if it wasn't for Alonso, Lindor, Nimmo, McNeil, Marte and canha.
If I'm McNeil I'm starting to get worried. He doesn't have the ceiling of a Lindor/Alonso and there's a lot of very talented people in the minors that can take his spot. I can see him being moved if some these prospects pan out. I'm not worried about Alonso being moved.

If he didn't have his slump and getting hit on the hand would probably be over 50 this year. Lindor is also quietly having a great offensive year. Too bad McNeil, Nimmo and Marte are useless

The fact Texas took him and gave up a good prospect was a coup for the Mets. He is definitely the poster child for this failure of a season. With Peterson, Magill and Drew Smith lending heavy assists as well.
