DQ doesn't like his SS to be an undisciplined, big hitter who doesn't finish tackles & is injury prone. This was as much a DQ call as it was as a TD call and TD is happy to let that happen.

TD is trying to save his job...look at any of the player personnel comments TD has made the last yr, he has been quick to make sure DQ is mentioned as either being involved with the decision or praising DQ for how he came to that decision. TD didn't do that with Smitty. TD is goin to continue to make sure that any player personnel moves are attached to DQ to lessen the heat on him...just read any of TD's comments when it comes to player personnel moves, even yesterday on the cut down to 75 players

EDIT: Read this shyt from TD after we cut down the roster:

That seems like a bit much IMO...it's not like this is the final 53

@The ADD @Motife43 @Nostalgic yall notice TD doing that?
Actually don't disagree. Of course he's painting a sunny picture.

When your QB is bad it's all ugly :manny:

Rise up!
I can't figure Vic out. I thought in the Washington game there were positive signs but the Miami game seemed like a step back.

He just has to continue working on a second move because that spin move is not enough. He'll be fine he's definitely not a bust after one year:stopitslime:. We didn't draft him number one overall. Those guys are expected to be stars out the gate. It's going to take some time for him getting used to playing a new position.

I don't get the new position argument. If he was getting worked in pass coverage sure. When his hand was in the dirt Thursday it was no bueno.

I definitely appreciate the optimism but he's not passing the eye test breh. He's had injuries, yes, but it's telling to me that he's not a lock to start at SAM and that's from the coaches. He's not looking like an impact player at this time...hopefully that changes this season but right now he looks like a career backup

Beasley is raw. He lacks a good pass rush repertoire and it shows. His spin move is weak and his bull rush is nonexistent. He's not beating people off the line with his quick first step either. He looks so small out there against the tackles that I can't help but think he might just be a SLB.

It takes 2-3 years for pass rushers to develop so I'm not ready to call him a bust. His lack of development is worrying me though. Dude looked absolutely terrible on Thursday night.

I'm not buying the raw argument when it comes to Vic. He spent 5 years in one of the best football programs in the country. When I think raw I think of a 21 yr old from a hbcu that didn't start playing ball until 10th grade or some shyt.

This why I don't like drafting old ass rookies in the first round. Elite talent flashes early unless you are behind a logjam. He is 24 already and his ceiling was probably being really good in the ACC. Old rookies selected high tend to be busts or injury prone. Td also drafted willy mo Sam baker and Peria Jerry when they were over 23.

Grady Jarrett will be a better pro

I think people are frustrated. I don't think he needs to be cut or anything like that but he has underperformed and been unimpressive. I don't see what's wrong with saying that

Big hasn't impressed me either, but our defense is about being a unit. If he plays his role(literally and figuratively) then we'll be fine. One band, one sound. :manny:

You my dude so please show me something positive that will lead to Ws

1. The one thing I take seriously in preseason as indicative of future success is level of drop-off from 1st to 3rd string. I think we're gonna be a pretty deep team that can withstand injuries and/or poor play by sending the next man up.

2. I think Quinn is really fukking around there right now. Might be him overestimating himself and his system, but it seems to me he's looking at individuals moreso than the whole unit. He's gonna know what guys can and cannot do and use them accordingly. I believe he's gonna try to put the best 11 players possible on the field every single play. Might not always work out(nothing ever does), but it gives me hope that this defense will be in the top third of the league next year.

3. If Matt can run Shanny's offense to some resemblance of effectiveness then I think this can be the best offense we have had in his career. Freeman is a consistent threat. Coleman and Robinson are potential gamebreakers. I've always been a fan of Sanu and he can be Roddy circa 2011-12 for us. Mack can snap the fukkin ball. OL as a whole the best we've had since 08. Julio da gawd. Matt is the X factor. He's never been a very smart QB on the field to me. His strength comes from knowing what he's doing before he does it and trusting himself. Going into year 2 of this complex, difficult offense, I think he will do less thinking and more playing, and we'll see him at his best.

Every think you typed about Ryan would have been fine BEFORE he played the Dolphins

Beasley plays like a player that doesn't understand the nuances of his position. When you add the fact that he hasn't mastered any of his pass rush moves, you have to chalk that up as him still needing work. He doesn't have good arm length or power so he has to rely on being more of a technician with elite speed. If he's going to improve, it will happen with more experience and work.

I do think his athleticism not flashing during games is odd. He showed in College and at the Combine that was an elite athlete but you barely see that translated in games.
