Matt Garza pulled from start.....but it's probably only an injury. Not a trade.

A lot of people are speculating that Upton has a chronic shoulder injury so I wouldn't be that excited to add him to a lineup. You gotta ask yourself why else Arizona would even consider trading a 24-year-old potential franchise player if they didnt think he had a serious injury problem.

And one that's under team control through 2015

Jays are likely to be sellers, imo. Too many teams ahead of them and their pitching has been pretty poor all year.

Could move Johnson or Encarnacion. I'd suggest moving EE, could get a decent package in return as their aren't many bats on the market

They just extended encarnacion last week. They would be selling low but I could see escobar being moved.

Pirates getting Wandy Rodriguez from Houtson.

Wandy isn't great, but I just like seeing the Pirates trading FOR players at the deadline for a change.

The Phillies at least floated the idea of a six-year, $140MM extension to Cole Hamels, a rival MLB official told Joel Sherman of the New York Post (Twitter link). Hamels hasn't said 'yes,' which increases the likelihood of a trade, as Sherman points out. The Phillies offered Hamels six years and about $135MM, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports (on Twitter). The left-hander is still trying to decide whether to accept the offer or hit free agency.

Are the Astros getting any good prospects back?

Depends entirely on how much of the contract they're picking up.

But I'd guess they aren't getting great prospects back.

Not bad at all.

If they also nab Quentin? :wow:

So I'm guessing SD extended Quentin for 3 years, $27MM with the intention of trading him? He'd kill in Pittsburgh too.
