Could Clemens land in Houston?
Roger Clemens is scheduled to start Saturday night for the independent Sugar Land Skeeters against Bridgeport, but where the seven-time Cy Young Award winner goes from there is anyone's guess.

"I'm 50 years old. We're just going to go out and have fun with this and make it fun for the fans," said Clemens.

We've heard all the talk about Clemens trying to appear in a major league game in order to reset the clock on his Hall of Fame eligibility. Houston general manager Jeff Luhnow said Tuesday the club sent a scout to look at Clemens and left-hander Scott Kazmir, which has done little to end the speculation that Clemens could make a September cameo for the Astros.

The Astros, after all, are on pace to lose well over 100 games, and an appearance by Clemens could be a justifiable diversion as the club rebuilds under Luhnow. The Astros are dead last in the National League in attendance, so a late-season boost can't hurt.

ESPN.com's Jim Bowden thinks a return by the Clemens to Houston, where he pitched for three seasons, is a real possibility. "When you grade his competitive nature, he gets an 80 out of 80," Bowden tells Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio. "Yes, I definitely think the Astros will give him that opportunity."

I hope Clemens takes a line drive to his face. fukk him and his family and anyone with the Clemens surname.

who the fukk grades out of 80

Baseball scouting has always been on the 20-80 scale.

It has to do with standard deviation and properly grading (although scouting/grading isn't scientific) a players talents.

50 is average and every 10 points in either direction is one standard deviation from the mean.

2/3 of "things", or in this case players skills, will fall between 40 and 60...and an even greater majority between 30-70 (in statics, more than 95% of values lie with two standard deviation of the mean). If you have an 80 ANYTHING, you're unbelievably special.

Billy Hamilton has 80 speed.
Giancarlo Stanton has 80 power.
Aroldis Chapman has an 80 fastball.

Trout is one of the only non-Yankees who could convince me to watch a red sox game. and damn if he hasn't delivered.
