I know Trout's having a great season, but Cabrera could actually win the Triple Crown. A lot of people will still think Trout should win MVP and I don't blame them for thinking that way, but I just can't imagine a guy winning the Triple Crown in today's game NOT getting the MVP. With Comerica Park as his home stadium no less. :ohhh:

the tigers not making the playoffs will hurt him plus he is atrocious at 3rd

Atrocious is a stretch. He's not Adrian Beltre, but he isn't killing them in the field. He's been more than adequate.

Anaheim doesn't look like they're gonna make the playoffs either, so there goes that argument too.

LOL, the Triple Crown is an arbitrary accomplishment. It's about as relevant to the MVP debate as who has the most cycles.

There really shouldn't be a discussion for MVP. It's Mike Trout. All this "so-and-so should be in the discussion" talk is pointless when there shouldn't be a discussion. You want to debate who should be 2nd? Go for it. But the MVP isn't debatable.

:what:

Shut the fukk up.

Miggy is only 18 runs away from tying Trout's run total. He's 1st or 2nd in the league in all the major hitting statistical categories. I like how you dismiss the triple crown like it's some overrated achievement. The last person to hit for it was Carl Yastrzemski in '67. If he does finish the season hitting for it then he absolutely deserves it. If Trout can reach the 30/30 club and Miggy falls short then I'd go with him.

Batting Average and RBIs are both extremely overrated stats

Also, the idea that Cabrera is the MVP if he beats Hamilton by a single HR, but isn't if he falls one short is fukking retarded.

Also....DEFENSE.

Guess that means Molina should be NL MVP. :youngsabo:

And if the Tigers make the playoffs, and the Angels don't, will that influence your line of thinking?

He leads the league in almost every major offense category, he's the MVP.

Trout OPS+ - 168
Cabrera OPS+ - 169

Trout = ELITE CF
Cabrera = WELL BELOW AVERAGE 3B

Cabrera is a better power hitter. Trout is better at everything else.

All that tells me is that OPS+ needs to be thrown to the bushes :birdman:

Both have the same OBP, Miggy is slugging 60 pts higher than him but because Park Factors has Comerica 13th and Angels Stadium 26th it comes out to difference of 1?

Not even a little bit. Why would it? The MVP isn't a team award.

Hypothetically, if the Sox choke and then Tigers win the division, and the Angles finish behind the A's and O's.....but the Angels have a better record than the Tigers....would that affect your vote?

:dead:

Forget about the park factor then....even though that's stupid.

Cabrera has the edge in power...obviously.

Trout is the MUCH better fielder. I don't have a problem saying he's comfortably two wins better than Cabrera on defense.

Trout is MUCH better on the bases. Leads baseball in steals while maintaining a 92% success rate :krs:. To say nothing of his ability to take extra bases. He's probably been worth an extra 10 runs (1 win) on the bases.

So there are an extra 3 wins Trout has over Cabrera based on defensive and baserunning value.

Is Cabrera's 54-point lead in SLG worth those 3 wins? :usure:
