D-backs still want to shop Upton?

The status of Justin Upton was a hot topic in late July, but the trade deadline came and went with the outfielder remaining in the Arizona desert. Upton may not remain there.

In Monday's blog, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney reports rival executives expect the Diamondbacks to trade Upton this winter.

Some club officials tell Olney they believe Arizona will move center fielder Chris Young as well. The D-backs could then go into next season with an outfield of Gerardo Parra, Jason Kubel and Adam Eaton.

The Diamondbacks are looking for a shortstop and could talk to the Rangers about a possible megadeal involving Elvis Andrus. With Jurickson Profar likely ready to step in at shortstop next season, the Rangers could be open to an Andrus deal.

A few weeks ago, ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes suggested the Boston Red Sox could be yet another suitor for Upton should GM Kevin Towers field calls on the 25-year-old.

Lee?

Cliff Lee? :mindblown:

Lohse is certainly more deserving than him. So are Chapman and Kimbrel.

I really respect your baseball opinion so I'm going to assume you mistyped or you have some reason I don't know about for even mentioning Cliff Lee while discussing the 2012 Cy Young Award.

Neither are deserving, but the only think separating Lee and Lohse this year is luck.

Lee has struck out more and walked fewer...and gotten more groundballs. Sure his ERA is higher, but the difference is essentially a fluke. Lee has been HR-unlucky this year...that's the major difference between his '12 and the last few seasons.

As far as the relievers, as great as they've been...and they've both been fukking GREAT...I don't like giving the CY to relievers.

If the Cardinals go merely .500 the rest of the way...the Phils would need to go 16-5 to tie them.

Good luck with that.

HHR, was Clint Hurdle this bad of in-game manager when he was with the Rockies? His horrible in-game adjustments have once again sunken the Pirates :snoop:
