D-backs still want to shop Upton?
The status of Justin Upton was a hot topic in late July, but the trade deadline came and went with the outfielder remaining in the Arizona desert. Upton may not remain there.
In Monday's blog, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney reports rival executives expect the Diamondbacks to trade Upton this winter.
Some club officials tell Olney they believe Arizona will move center fielder Chris Young as well. The D-backs could then go into next season with an outfield of Gerardo Parra, Jason Kubel and Adam Eaton.
The Diamondbacks are looking for a shortstop and could talk to the Rangers about a possible megadeal involving Elvis Andrus. With Jurickson Profar likely ready to step in at shortstop next season, the Rangers could be open to an Andrus deal.
A few weeks ago, ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes suggested the Boston Red Sox could be yet another suitor for Upton should GM Kevin Towers field calls on the 25-year-old.
