Fab Melo suffers concussion from running into a hotel door

Fab Melo was recalled from Maine of the Development League, but it was to get treatment for a concussion he received when he ran into a hotel door. Melo missed the Red Claws’ Dec. 31 win over Springfield and is questionable for Friday’s game with Erie.

Melo said he still feels concussion symptoms and is unsure when he can return.

“I still have a little headache sometimes. I can only focus on things for a certain time,” he said.

Melo, a first-round pick from Syracuse, has been making headlines, blocking 23 shots over a two-game period, including a league-record 14 Dec. 22 against Erie. In 12 games, the 7-footer is averaging 10.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks.

What trade value? Can't trade what's not on the market breh.

All I can gather with Pau is that we'll be calling him first thing 12:01 AM come free agency in 2 years

As long as Pau Gasol is a Laker, trade rumors will percolate, and as they do, they will always include the Wolves.

The fact is Kahn and Adelman love the thought of Gasol in their offense. Adelman's recipe for success in Sacramento was due in large part to Chris Webber and Vlade Divac. The Wolves look at Love and Gasol as comparable to that duo.

Gasol is an excellent passer. Adelman loves big men who excel at that. A team source said Taylor is willing to go over the luxury tax for the 2013-14 season if the right deal presents itself. With a salary of nearly $20 million next year, Gasol fits that mold.

In other words, Pau isn't worth the time if Love ain't even here and he might not even be worth the time anyway.

So, they are willing to build around a 34 year old Pau?

Not build around, combine with Kev on the front line. Clearly they feel their main pieces are Rubio and Love at least (and they need to commit to Pek, none of this Varejao talk anymore. Pay Pek).

Rick's logic is what Doogie said.

Vlade's numbers from when he was 32-35:

10.7 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 3.8 apg, 47% FG, a steal and a block per. Rick sees value in a player like that for his system.

However, Pek's 27 and averaging 16 and 8. They already said they're willing to go into the lux, so just pay Pek what the market bears. Then, when Rubio's up for an extension, reevaluate Pek then and see if you need more defense or an all-star guard alongside Ricky (Shved's making a mean case to be in the lineup for good: 12 points, 6 assists since being a starter)
