had my macbook for 4 years now & not a damn thing has gone wrong with it. i run the latest mountain lion OS on it and all i did was upgrade the ram a bit, it runs fine. i rarely turn it off, never ever ever had a virus or anything like it, never lost a bunch of files, never had any problems. :win:

I'm on my 3rd Macbook Pro in 9 years. Why you ask? Because I like Macbook Pro's. It's not out of necessity. :ohlawd:

My little sister still to this day uses my 8 year old MBP with no problem. :gladbron:

And my gf has my 5 year old Macbook Pro and she's had no issues. :wow:

Both run like they were purchased yesterday. Let's see a PC laptop do that. :whoo:

try to do a recovery and all I get is a fukking black sreen with a pick cursor pointer looking at me like:dwillhuh:

Macs unquestionably run better and longer.

Tried to go that route a few years ago. Didn't work out. I pirate too much shyt. PCs are better for that:manny:

I've had my PC (a no-name brand from some company in Cali...I wanted one without all that useless software pre-installed that I'll never use). Still running fine.

1st: Your documents are likely still there and easily accessible. Just get a connector and you can connect it to the usb port of another computer. The connector is like $10 or so (Google internal hard drive to usb) and taking your hard drive out is easy. If you have a microcenter near by you can just pick it up.
Edit: get the SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter

2nd: stop downloading software just cuz it's free. Its not like music and movies where I'd say get it for the fukk of it. Only get software you need.

3rd: stop downloading porn. No need to do that in 2013. Too many streaming sites out there to feast on.

And of course, always browse with no-script.

True they are great computers but still overpriced. I have owned 1 and it was my favorite computers. However having said that a pro is the only thing I would buy from apple and NEVER RETAIL.:pachaha:

Bout to pic a new one up but I might still cop an Asus

They are definitely worth saving for. In the long run anyway. They are also great tax write offs.

I buy retail because I take advantage of the education discount through friends who are teachers. I have a MBP, iPad, and iPhone. But I have no interest in the Mac Mini or iMac.

If Apple dropped a new Mac Pro though I would have to consider it. Those things are beasts :wow:

I backed up stuff to a WD once when I did a clean upgrade to my computer. Didn't eject the USB drive and lost 160gb

Got my replacement after filing a RMA. 2 months later lost another 100gb on my replacement when the USB chord was accidentally pulled out while writing to it. :to:

Moral of the story is....WD drives + Mac = Always Eject

Couple of issues I see every time I read stories like this dudes are not

-browsing the internet safely, especially when downloading that much

-not doing regular system scans of there computers

- downloading that much content and not doing daily backups

II lost two desktops to viruses when I was like 20, didn't have hundreds of gigs but still a significant amount of data, ever since then I started backing my stuff up, first on cd's then usbs and now externals

This document explains how to use Disk Utility in Mac OS X to repair a disk. Disk Utility is included with OS X and can be used to repair system file permissions and minor errors in a disk's directory structure. It is located in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder on the hard drive. Disk Utility can also be run from a Mac OS X installation disc.

Mac's ain't immune.

Yes, no IBM-PC laptop has ever lasted 8 years :stopitslime:.

I had a 2005 HP Pavilion DV9000T that was still going strong until my brother lost it 6 months ago. Goddamn a$$hole. Only thing wrong with it was a bad pixel on the monitor, and I had long-since lost the rubber "shoes" on the bottom.
