My shyt is I cannot master lining myself up. I wonder if it’s the machine I’m using. I can’t do it neither with my wahl detailer it andis cordless. I’m not gonna give up tho gonna cop the and is t liner this weekend but idk wtf I’m doing wrong. I be zero gapping and all that but nothing.I wonder if the mirror I’m using or the angle I’m “lining” up from is wrong. I notice my barber just light taps my hairline and shyt but when I do it it don’t work lol

Any of y’all got tips ? Not that I’m trying to avoid my barber but with my schedule I can’t make appointment since he been booked.

Straight razor for lineups is easier to me. Put some shaving cream against the outline and cut. The hardest part is not slicing your skin with the edge.

Started cutting my own hair back in 2017. Wahl Magic Clip cordless is my go to. Had the cordless seniors, but took longer to blend fades compared to the magic clip. Andis slimline pro for lineup, andis profoil shaver for balding, andis cool care for maintenanc, wahl oil.

Respect the good & understand the bad
After upgrading some of my equipment recently, I'm still learning the intricacies of blending the new variety of brands that I got for getting seamless fades even after a few cuts now. Didn't realize the guards that came with my Masters don't go all the way zero and after chasing the line on my neck a up few times after realizing this, my shyt is now looking like it's scared of getting wet from a flood

All the shops I'm familiar with were either booked out or closed right now too, but luckily my wife's cousin cuts hair so I'm about to head over there now to try and fix this highwater neckline I got going on :sadcam:

Got some new guards that zero closer coming tomorrow, but I don't want to risk further fukking my shyt up lol

Definitely get an andis t liner. Usually got them at a hair store for like 70 or 80. The key is slightly lean your head down while looking in the mirror. To properly visualize and see your hairline. Then follow your natural line. Wherever you want to form your line at, place the clipper there and pull away from the hair in a smooth motion. You are just touching it not pressing hard. The clippers come out zero gapped and that means already pretty sharp. If you keep going over the same spot trying to perfect it that's just cutting into the skin and will make it bleed then scab up.

I'd advise to get the self cut mirror from Walmart it's like 50 I think. I place it on my bathroom door it's a 3 sided mirror that lets you see all parts of your head. The only thing is that when looking in the mirror everything you do is reversed as far as your motion with your hand. Also you can get the self cut buddy guide it's like comb stencil that basically you can use. Joint like 6 or 7 dollars. It has different angles where you place it on your hairline and just follow it. It's basically fail proof

I been cutting my hair since 2007. I use some Andis masters, t liners and I got some Andis magnetic guards that don't slip off the master clipper.

I also got a wet dry vac I bought from Walmart for 32 that I vacuum the hair up with. But you can set a towel on the sink to catch all the hair.

Best way to line your front hair line is start in the middle of your head where a widow's peak would be. That makes it easier to connect your left or right side of head line up. If you start on either side it could come out uneven or you gotta do a lot of correcting to each side.

I know a couple dudes who cut they own shyt.
And you know what?

You can always tell a dude who cuts his own shyt.
Even barbers let other barbers in the shop hit they shyt up.

But live your life.
