This the one I got.
Got it a little over a year ago. Been a few years since I've gone to a barber. My boy was cutting my hair for the longest. He told me to get that machine cuz he was using his to cut me and his dad so he said to get my own and just take it over when I would go for a cut. But during the summer he started being on some fukk shyt, maybe cuz of the girl he was seeing at the time or him being unreliable whenever I would try to hit him up for a cut or otherwise. We don't hang out like before so I been cutting my own hair. First time was easy but second time I tried to do a 1 on the bottom and sides and didn't get it right. Of course first time trying. My boy reminded me that I had the 1.5 guard so I might try that next time. But last time was my third time and I just did a 2 all around like the first time. Might try fading it a bit next time with the 1.5. Of course everyone may have a different preference on hair length. But it's fairly easy when you get the hang of it. Hair grows back. Better to practice a few times with a 1 or 2 guard to get comfortable and the hang of it then trying to do some complex design or anything thats an advanced level.
I be wanting to learn how to cut my own hair, but the idea of having to clean my bathroom every time I cut myself keeps dissuading me
I feel you on that but it doesn't have to be. What i do is open a garbage bag over the sink and let it catch the hair especially if it has grown out a bit. You can do the sides and front while facing the mirror and face your head down close to the bag to let it drop right there. Then the back I just turn and put my head above the bag so the hair can try to fall directly on it. Don't cut your hair above the sink and wash the hair down cuz it can clog up the pipes, which reminds me that I gotta take my sink stopper out tomorrow and clean it out. Cuz I'm sure my brother got plenty of hairs from shaving his beard on there plus anything else that goes thru there. It's something I recommend to keep that running smoothly. So it's not a big mess unless you let it be. And then when I finish I hop in the shower right away to wash all the excess hair off.
The machine cost me $100 and my boy wasn't charging me at any point whether it was his machine or mine. The cuts I was paying I think like 18-20 with tips and this was back in maybe 2017 or 18 cuz it was before covid. I don't get my haircut often, not like every two weeks, maybe a month if that, but it's still worth it over paying whatever ridiculous prices they charging now. And considering I have such a simple cut. Just gotta keep passing the machine thru and making sure there's no strands left behind. What sucks for me is that I use glasses so I gotta be having to put them on and off to make sure I didn't miss any spots. But I definitely recommend taking the opportunity.
