I'm not happy he's doing this from a fan perspective but from a business perspective if this is what he feels he needs to do then go get your money Julio. Because we don't know exactly what he's looking for in a new deal it's hard to speculate, but I'd imagine more guaranteed money up front (which might result in a lower annual cap number for Julio)

@staticshock the Falcons opened some money up after the Matt Ryan deal and after we released Levine Toilololololololo (between 7-9 million in total). There are ways to make this deal happen without impacting future contracts for Grady, Debo and Vic (he's gotta ball out this yr tho, he's on the last yr of his rookie deal). So yea it's not ideal but it'll get done

No expert who wants to keep their credibility intact would dare rank Julio as low as 4th or sometimes even 3rd best WR in the league. 8th highest paid?

They cant up his money right now cause of cap but they can backload it and have more flex with the cap

Julio's deal for the next three years:

2018: $10.5 million base, 2.4 million signing bonus, cap hit to the Falcons (if released) $4.8 million (it was a $18.7 million cap hit in 2017)
2019: $12.5 million base, 2.4 million signing bonus, cap hit to the Falcons (if released) $2.4 million
2020: $11.4 million base, no signing bonus, no cap hit to the Falcons if they release him

Bottom line is that a new deal needs to get done. Like @Stone pointed out, the Falcons could release Julio at any point over the next three years with minimal damage to their cap. TD/Blank know this and obviously so does Julio. It's time to get this shyt done while Julio has leverage as a GOAT WR, if he falls off next yr, what incentive would the Falcons have to deal with him in good faith? Because they're nice? I'm all for what Julio's doing now after reading his contract

I'm sure his agent looked at the Falcons cap situations with the young defense's renewals coming up and told him "it's now or never" especially after they went WR in the first round. Football players tend to get in their feelings when a young player at their position gets picked early .
Funniest by far is that Raiders OT who called Joh Grueden on draft night after the team drafted a player who plays his position and cussed Gruden the fukk out on his voicemail

That's Matt's private, players only camp. That's not an organized team activity...i don't want to worry about this either but this isn't a good situation for the Falcons
