Bro his shytty credentials was subtext for his race. This movie came out during the height of affirmative action where everybody black was considered subpar.

The scene was trying to convey that this expert witness was lacking in his credentials, and that it would impact the trial negatively. I don't believe it was meant to make a statement about affirmative action. Had that character been certified in all those things they were asking, his race wouldn't have been a problem.

If it was just credentials why did he act so weird the first time he met the doctor? He legit acted like he just saw something disappointing.

He knows that's how the jurors may take it.

In my top 10

Tony Gilroy's script is a masterclass in how to tell a story, limited exposition, it's a very intelligent movie. When I saw it in theaters I liked it, but I was younger and couldn't quite grasp parts. Now, every frame is enjoyable.

Clooney has maybe never been better, except Out of Sight

and Pollack was unforgettable.

When did you get so fukking delicate Michael?

I say that to people lol

Need to watch this again. All the lines are so sharp. One of my older friends is a high level federal civil attorney, complex litigation with like Williams and Connelly, and he told me that aside from the bomb stuff, the movie is right on.

Why? Why? Because people are fukking incomprehensible

What if we were on the wrong side?

Wrong side? This case reeked from day one!!

It’s ironic that motherfukker Donald Trump is trying to make DEI hiring be treated as a stand in for the affirmative action that existed during that movie where it was believed that black people were inferior at every job.

However in that movie the black doctor as a witness was considered a bad witness because it was Paul Newman’s belief that nobody would take him seriously because he was a black doctor hired during affirmative action.

Now I remember what this shyt was about. I guess I could've just backtracked the conversation.

A decent look behind the curtain at fixers, the kinds of people leveraged to do that job...and more relevant to recent goings-on, a good look at the mechanics of boxing in whistleblowers.
