Not to take away from him but i think the way it's made is that sometimes you hear in your head the way it should be chopped. And then sometimes you just play around with it until something sounds good. In other words, sometimes it's just an accident.


One thing I'll say about premier's style is that he had his own distinct style of chopping and playing with the silence between chops to give the beat it's own groove (syncopation). Don't feel me wrong, people were doing stabs before him but there just was a specific groove with his which is why after a while people were saying he was making the same beats which i disagree with but i see where it comes from. In any case, he had an original style.
