What other mainstream label promoted violence and gang affiliations?

Like I said no. What gangs did those labels rep hard and what violence did they get poppin? Yeah, No Limit was all gooned out but who they really bother in mainstream music? Death Row used gnag tactics in mainstream shyt.

only Diff was Suge was a lil more open wit the shyt...but u actin like violence is only gang influenced..these nikkas was STILL talkin bout shootin and killin and drug dealin....and a label like Bad Boy was JUST as crooked as Death Row with the illegal shyt...

I want to talk about the artists vs labels vs audience angle of this

He's saying the labels are pushing gangsta rap, but Jimmy gravitated to controversy in rock and other genres too

the question is, if the audience is buying it, is Jimmy more to blame than the artist who's actually making the tracks?

I mean, when 'they' try to shut down gangsta rap, it's cause 'they' don't get it right? "you're too old to understand the way the game's told" . but "they" run the label and it's their fault now.

you know what I'm saying? you can't have it both ways where the establishment is hating on rappers and the establishment is pushing the rappers.

frankly the origin point of the problem is the consumer, but the artist as well, then the label

I think we all know to blame the labels for pushing it in one direction or another...

But we also all know that the labels are in it for nothing but a dollar. They don't really care about an artist, the artist's positive or negative impact or anything like that. Just how much revenue an artist is gonna generate based on the demographic he's catering to.

I kinda look at it like chess: if we're all pieces on the board, then all we think to blame are the other chess pieces, not the people moving us around the board.

But you're right. It really can be blamed on the label execs for not killing it or pushing it harder for money.

But as long as there's a market for it, execs are gonna do what execs do. generate revenue.
