Some of the best CGI work is when the camera is steady, and it doesn't involve action. Most of the shots where the CGI shows the repair happening, is when it allows the viewer to get it.
A ton of movies now have CGI as a part of the action. However the best CGI in those movies is the actual background, and not from the effects themselves because they appear as a 'blur', leaving your mind to imagine it having effect.
Plus going into Scorsese's bag, but where Terminator 2 also holds a high standard, is that the movie itself is about two things:
- John Connor FINALLY finding a Father Figure in his life.
- Sarah Connor BECOMING a Terminator but gradually becoming a Human again, and a Mother for John.
Those themes of Parenting overlay a Science Fiction movie, and why its without a doubt one of the best movies ever and will be Cameron's Magnum Opus.
