Absolutely. Obviously the movie doesn't look perfect, but to be filmed in 1990 and dropped in 1991 it not only holds up but looks incredible still. Aliens holds up so swell too and apparently had a really small budget.

I think so too. In fact I think the T-1000 is so powerful that they had to resort to gimmicks to try and make the following terminators seem more bad ass, but none of them seemed nearly as menacing to me.
The T-1000 was about as elite as it gets for villains.

T1000 was also sparingly used. If they had today’s technology back then; it wouldn’t have the same effect.

And yes, this is a film that you can watch today in a theater-ish setting and it’s still spectacular. I gotta do that with my daughter sometime.
Some of the best CGI work is when the camera is steady, and it doesn't involve action. Most of the shots where the CGI shows the repair happening, is when it allows the viewer to get it.
A ton of movies now have CGI as a part of the action. However the best CGI in those movies is the actual background, and not from the effects themselves because they appear as a 'blur', leaving your mind to imagine it having effect.
Plus going into Scorsese's bag, but where Terminator 2 also holds a high standard, is that the movie itself is about two things:
