Tekken is not that popular in the US anymore and SF4 is the game people recommend to casuals and newcomers to FGs. I don't buy this stuff about Tekken being accessible because the narrative for the series the past few years and what other people have told me to my face in my old gaming club is that it's unapproachable, too hard, too many match ups, too many moves, too much stuff to learn.

And what does mashing buttons and pulling off random moves have to do with anything? I swear people say that as if you can run up on Qudans or Knee, pick Eddy, mash buttons and win:dahell:

If you agree that Tekken is the most popular FG today, then you pretty much agree that it is the most accessible game to casuals. Like it or not, these casuals are the majority of sales numbers. Normal difficulty in Tekken is pretty much equivalent to easy mode of other FGs. I can beat it in its maximum difficulty, while I might rage quit on others, even on the easiest settings.
:what: Ain't shyt casual about Tekken, it's widely regarded as one of the toughest fighters to master. You damn sure can't base your views on the game off of it's flawed AI either, you can't do that for any fighting game really.

:snoop: Tekken stans are so defensive. I'm not talking about competitive scene. Casual have no time for that. They just want to have a good time, beating up each other. Party gaming and couch multiplayer, in short. Ya'll acting like they be facing an FG champion from the get go. You don't need to master movements, parries and shyts.

I dunno about US, but I'm pretty sure TTT2 is still more played here than both SFIV and SFV combined, both in the arcades (which are pretty scarce these days) and gaming cafes. People here are so scrub at SF that I have to teach them some basic moves.

How am I being a stan? I'm not saying Tekken is perfect or some shyt. You keep bring this mashing buttons/have a good time point like it can't be done with other fighting games even though it's SF or MK that's recommended to casuals for that sort of thing since it's a lot easier for them follow and the characters are throwing fireballs 'n shyt at each other. A common complaint about TTT2's online was beginners getting matched up with Suzakus or Raijins in ranked or someone with a high rank using an alt account to go in beginner rooms and destroying them, so after casuals had their fun with their friends and headed to online they were pretty much facing champions.

And the US is Capcom land as far as fighters go.

TORONTO!
Tekken has the hardest learning curve out of any fighting game, why do you think they added a character to attract players from other fighting games
cuz SF and TK already have a partnership, Namcos version of their crossover game is forever delayed so they figured to add Akuma in T7 to bridge the gap. I highly doubt its anything more than that

and Tekken is NOT harder than:
Guilty Gear/Blazblue
KOF
Marvel
all the other 2D anime games
Virtua Fighter

it has the edge over:
DOA (though LR is pretty damn technical with the different stun states and whatnot)
Street Fighter
Killer Instinct
Soul Calibur
this gon be on x1? :dwillhuh:
the E3 story reveal with Harada on stage was on X1 during MS conference. then they made TTT2 free on the store for the month. so yeah I think so

The only game that matters competively you mentioned is Marvel and even that is probably done for. Nobody gives a fukk about KOF or GG unfortunately

Then the problem with Tekken is its match-making and online community, not the game itself. Who the fukk would match them with high level of competition?

If you are party gaming with friends, there is no need to go online. Like I said, single player modes alone can keep them casual heads busy. Not all people have interest on competing online.

Tell that to Hispanic and Asians because KOF rules them on said regions.
