The majority of us older heads weren't checking out music from the previous generation so its always baffled me why we get mad that this generation for the most part doesnt either.

Hell, I didn't really start going back and getting into dudes like Rakim, Run DMC, Slick Rick, Kook G Rap , etc until my mid to late 20s.

Growing up I honestly couldn't care less about those dudes outside of a few of their more popular songs and features like Rick's feature on Art Of Storytelling or Kool G's feature on Murda Muzik.

But the skill gap of time period was relevant. Once snoop dogg came onto the scene that old school flow was officially buried.

It's not like 80s rappers were more skilled than mid 90s rappers especially flow & delivery wise. Ll Cool J I'm bad from a rapping perspective sounds dates compared to Mr Smith album flow & delivery wise.

Funny this thread is made. I subscribed to bruh last week and have been watching any new sh*t he drops. He actually seems interested and wants to learn.




Kinda got me into looking up other folks around his age and some of these mf are very ignorant. These jits are dismissing rappers based off the fact that they never heard of them

Its. at times that they never heard some songs. I'm only 4-6 years older than some of them and knew majority of what was on the radio and what was on albums. Then again, have to remember we had 106 & Park, TRL, Rap City, etc to put us on. These kids only have Akademiks.
