this story seems fishy. they parked at a school and she couldn't get anyone's attention by honking the horn? you would have to be in the middle of nowhere to not here a car horn. also please tell me she was smart enough to use the horn.

Geez did you not read the story?

When investigators tested the car, they reportedly found that the doors would sometimes lock on the inside and outside when the key was used, disabling the horn and making it almost impossible to escape.

Im the only one wondering how a 14yo is driving :patrice:

Yall nikkas need to read. She wasnt the one driving. Her brother drove them to school. Her class didnt start for another hour so she decided to stay in the car. The brother who was the driver, took the keys when he left (rightfully so) and locked the doors with the remote. Once the door is locked on a bmw from the remote there's is no way to open the door inside or outside w/o the key and remote. And when the car is turned off you cant use the horn. Essentially making her trapped inside. She's a 14yo 90lb girl and had no strength to bust the windows down, she was fukked

Why the fukk didn't he leave the key with her? ;mindblown: Why would you stay in a car with the windows all the way up, with no radio, no cell phone and no windows cracked????? :mindblown:

but isnt that what an emergency manual release is for? :patrice: they usually are located in the trunk in case someone puts you in there.
im surprised bmw doesnt have one of those

There are quite a few adults who don't even know about that shyt, let alone a 14 year old.

That's what's so odd about it. I couldn't imagine being in a car for that long without wanting to get out or listening to the radio unless she planned on getting some extra rest.

First off, it's a sad story to have died of heat exhaustion.
Second, it's obvious that she didn't know that you could pull up on the door lock. Even with child proof door locks, you can always go to the driver's door, pull up on the door lock and open the door because the child-proof lock doesn't apply to that door.
If its'a newer BMW, the door lock controls are on the center stack near the air vents. Without seeing a door lock switch on the door, which is more intuitive, this may have led the girl to believe that you need to have a key fob to lock and unlock the doors.
But, I think if you pull on the door handle from the inside, that will unlock the door lock. :wtf: Like it's possible she didn't attempt to pull the door handle.
