Spot on observations in my experience.
:ehh:
Thats why I refuse to deal with any Indian recruiters or Hiring Managers.

Meta employee’s post criticises India’s tech hiring culture

The employee, an Indian national working in the US, finds India’s tech recruitment practices “strange” and “unprofessional”. He himself is exploring opportunities for relocation later this year.

He mentions how recruiters were often disrespectful of agreed-upon availability, calling him outside designated time slots and disrespectful of agreed-upon availability, calling him outside designated time slots and displaying impatience whenever he couldn’t respond.

Microsoft to start phasing out and limiting their PM roles permanently

Microsoft mulls layoffs in May, to focus on managers and non-coders: Report

Microsoft layoffs: This restructuring effort aims to streamline operations and improve the ratio of engineers to non-engineers within project teams.

Microsoft is reportedly planning another round of layoffs, expected to begin in May 2025. The focus will be on reducing middle management positions and non-technical roles. This restructuring effort aims to streamline operations and improve the ratio of engineers to non-engineers within project teams, according to sources cited by Business Insider.

This strategic planning is similar to broader industry patterns followed by tech giants like Google and Amazon, which have taken the same restructuring efforts to lessen the managerial levels and prioritize technical talent. For example, Amazon has been working to increase its ”builder ratio,” highlighting a higher proportion of engineers to non-technical staff. In the same manner, in December, Googleannounced a 10% reduction in vice president and manager roles as part of an efficiency drive

In Microsoft, discussions are underway to lessen the ”PM ratio” (Product manager to engineer ratio) which indicates the number of product or program managers relative to engineers. Charlie Bell, Microsoft’s security Chief who had earlier held a crucial role at Amazon, is credited for introducing the ‘’builder ratio’’ concept. Under this, the aim was to adjust the team structure to a 10:1 ratio of engineers to managers, an increase from the current 5:5:1 in his division.

According to a report by Business Insider, the exact number of expected job cuts continues to be unknown, but it signals that reductions could majorly affect certain teams. The layoffs may not just target managerial positions but may also impact employees with constantly low performance reviews. It is likely to affect those employees who are scoring an ”Impact 80” or lesser than it for the last two consecutive years. These internal evaluations will play a major role in influencing employee compensation and stock awards.

This expected restructuring follows a past layoff of approximately 2,000 underperforming employees earlier this year. Microsoft’s further job cuts reflect a strategic plan to reform its workforce composition and boost operational efficiency. The company has refused to comment on the speculations.

I know a lot of people talk about A.I, but it’s actually these new college grads that are going to be insane.

Applied as “White” so less chance of discrimination:

If people like this are not making it into these schools then those who do graduate from them are really on some other shyt. I posted about it before, but these kids are basically going through academic camps and competitions like an NBA player did when they were in High School.

All for most of these people to go on and write CRUD web apps for a company, which is funny.ibex

I mentioned in the other thread about air traffic control: engineers who graduate from these schools get their talent wasted in the real world. Got these 4.0 M.I.T kids graduating all to be out here writing ReactJS for entry-level roles. Seems like a waste (not meant to be a diss to fellow FE). I always think “regular” folks should be taking these jobs, but of course nobody in higher positions wants Caltech and M.I.T grads going for their spots.

I expect this to reverse in the next 5 years. These freshmen arent trying to graduate into a meat grinder. All those impacted CS programs in the east coast, cali, and austin will have empty seats soon.

I think your final paragraph will become realityy as the intellectual capital in CS moves into formal engineering, math-heavy, or pure science work. Id imagine med school students may feel more pressure as the same motivated CS kids realize they can make senior engineer bayarea money as a normal doc in a cheap city.

If trump keeps being inflationary then these rates will not go down enough for expansion in tech. The only chance for a stream of entry level CS people is if quantum or another new industry forces these firms into a hiring frenzy again.

Need to read the personal statement.

Many incoming college freshmen and their parents always complain about their rejection from elite schools. If and when they post their personal statements, we clearly understand why they were rejected.

1st Round Playoff Exits
If by numbers you mean “salary”, its across all supply chain, finance, accounting, marketing, people ops, sales, etc

Nah, it’s not about salary—data ingestion’s just been low the past couple of weeks.

We usually see around 10,000 daily transactions for a single, but lately, some days are only hitting 100 to 200 records. Nothing’s cracked 10k in a while.

It might be nothing—or it might be something. I saw a similar dip back in 2023. Every now and then, we do get some light days. As I was wrapping up work last night, I looked at a couple over secondary vendors that we use briefly and their numbers were down. I’m tempted to do a bit of work right now to look into seasonality of this.

Still, I can’t help but feel like this whole tariff war mess is starting to slow things down. Especially because the supply chain is interconnected globally.

If this is a sign of what’s ahead, the country could be in for some serious pain.

Especially concerning is that we were previously on track to hit our FY25 forecast. But if teams can’t meet their metrics and companies start scaling back, a lot of industries are going to feel it.

I was just seeing if others in the space around supply chain are seeing a drop in volume.
