spooky times for people....9k is a lot of people joining a competitive workforce.
If my company hires an India CEO or CISO. I start looking elsewhere for work because you just know they gonna be on some bullshyt.

IBM is kind of known for doing constant layoffs. I'm not sure why US employees take them seriously at this point. That company is a joke.

Has the Decline of Knowledge Work Begun?

The unemployment rate for college graduates has risen faster than for other workers over the past few years.

Overall, the latest data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York show that the unemployment rate for college grads has risen 30 percent since bottoming out in September 2022 (to 2.6 percent from 2 percent), versus about 18 percent for all workers (to 4 percent from 3.4 percent).

It’s definitely a return to the mean.

Before smartphones, Electronics were flying: individual gadgets like GPS, all types of calculators, etc. The difference being to work in those fields you needed to be an Electrical Engineer, which isn’t as easy. Even then only like a portion of EE’s were getting jobs working on that stuff.

The smartphone craze made the software industry skyrocket: all the apps and flexibility of software in addition to how much easier it was to get into and learn.

Now people have ran out of ideas, a bunch of copycat apps, etc.

This is basically a return to the mean.

Houston has never been a tech city. I have never seen many tech jobs there compared to other big cities especially when you have Dallas and Austin in Texas.
