I will say this
Anyone is the teaching field or any black person should be supporting this man. This was an investment in having a social conversation of how kids interact with teachers. The respect is gone and something has to be done.
And we shouldn't let news warp what happened and side with parents (mothers) who wanna act shocked that their little b*stard are running amok.
Not one father has been shown acting like the kid didn't deserve because we all know each and everyone of us men would have handled that kid. Whether it was beating him to a pulp or slamming him around, all of you would have put hands on the kid
Except
@Benefited who probably isn't a man anyway
Teachers aren’t gonna support him like that and neither would the average person. Again , they were both wrong .
Teacher has the higher responsibility placed on him for diffusing any tenuous matter with a child/student non violently .
And it also won’t be perceived well that he stole off first, despite being berated and hit in the leg with a basketball (and that IS assault), which many won’t consider adequate provocation .
However, I place the most onus on the school and its administrators . Apparently he had already been jumped by some kids... they know the type of population that they’re teaching , so adequate training, featuring deescualtion techniques and NCI Core techniques should have been mandatory for him and
anyone teaching there.
I’ve done mentorship working with low income teens who had already been exposed to the criminal justice system with their cases resolved via deferred prosecution, and were nearly entirely disconnected and in the streets ... and at the very least, NCI Core was required before participation in the mentorship program began Because the population was that high risk.
He didn’t react as a professional, he reacted like any other Joe Blow who’d had enough and was trying maintain his dignity.
And that’s a huge problem for that school and its administrators... and ultimately the students and the preservation of a learning environment there.
