At first I thought this was doing too much, but after thinking it over that teacher is probably doing exactly their job: teaching kids how to communicate and survive in the real world

The slang will continue outside the classroom just fine, but they need to know how to hold a conversation

I do believe there’s an anti black element especially if this person is teaching Black children. When it comes to teaching Black kids WME or academic language I never believed limiting how kids talk was/is the right answer.

Like Paulo Freire said in the Pedagogy of the Oppressed the Banking method (which deals with how kids are in taking education) you are inhabiting creative and expressionist thought. This process doesn’t help anybody.

That teacher did a terrible job with limitation instead of incorporating those words into WME which would have helped with learning. It takes away the kids ability to express themselves and learn in a more friendlier environment.

But I doubt that teacher was taught about Cultural Pedagogy and how to relate to Black kids or youth.

A few of these make sense, but I don't think this is necessary.

Are they using these on their assignments? Mark them off there, but why care how they talk to each other?

Wait, standing on bidness is new slang? I thought that’s been around. And who uses that phrase in a classroom.

Personally, I don’t think it’s anti-Black, but it seems like a lot. And how is the teacher going to enforce it; I mean there is freedom of speech. That paper seems like 75% of paperwork you get on the 1st day of school.
