But some of these men, like most people, don't think critically about their social conditioning.

They reduce romantic interest to "preference" as if preference happens in a vaccum - i.e. without cultural influence and centuries of white supremacist hegemony casting white and light women are virtuous and more attractive, and always better than darker women.

They think their attraction to white women is a result of something inherent within her, a magic she possesses, and not their own personal choice to fall in line with white supremacist training.
