Democrats go into Hispanic communities, for example, offering them bills such as the DREAM Act that explicitly allow them to obtain rights (i.e. citizenship) that influence their voting decisions. Politicians even mention them as main beneficiaries. But with stuff for us it's always "all boats rising" lumping us in with all "minorities" and diluting the benefits.

That’s because the issues that infringed on black rights were passed in the 1960s.

The stuff we need now can not be narrowly passed just for black people. It needs to be broad to win support and pass.

For example healthcare and free college tuition.

Y’all can forget about straight up reparations. A country that elects DeSantis and Trump is not passing reparations to help just 13% of the population.

The kind of thinking is just mental masturbation.

There's a wide gulf between bills targeted towards helping black people (which other minority groups get) and reparations. They don't even attempt to give us targeted benefits because we don't leverage our vote correctly.

This is a horrible post, you are basically confirming the criticism that is being made of the Democrats

So it’s basiaclly true that Democrat are not going promise any direct benefits to black people but they will to lgbt and immigrants and the only thing black people will gain from being the foundation, front line soldiers and pawns of the Democratic Party is generic social welfare programs

No thanks, it’s better for black people to focus on economics and politics second

There’s no black economics either. We have black politics growing. Now we focus on doing both. It’s not either or.

Yeah they go together but for the past 30-40 years since the civil rights movement black people have focused on politics, evidence shows we have little to show for it, so it’s time to switch the focus to economics

You have to understand that focusing on politics is in the interest of white liberals, that’s why they funded and supported things like Dubois and the NAACP. Wwe have gone down that road and taken it till the end, That’s how we got obama. But with obama we have seen the limits of politics. You guys have admitted that even with a black president there are no direct or specific benefits for black people

Now, it’s time to go back to the Booker/Garvey ideaology of economics first, that’s who Tariq, Jason black, Anderson represent

Tariq vs rolland is actually an age old argument that goes back to Dubois vs booker, you need to pick sides

You can do both.

and hell, Roland isn't even a c00n. Booker was by many accounts.

Roland just doesn't want to you abandon the real benefit of having black politicians.

What you're saying is that you're waiting for a goldilocks zone of economic achievement before you jump in...which ensures there will never be a time thats good enough

So why are you in all the political threads? :heh: Start a thread on economics dumb dumb.

Like I said, you lot are just engaging in mental masturbation fantasies of reparations, splitting the vote and other non-sense.

I prefer to operate in the world that takes coalitions to pass broad policies which can be in place for a long time. How long would S.S and Medicare have lasted if it was narrowly focused? Not long. We saw this with the demonization of the social safety net in the 80s and 90s.

I'll keep voting for pols who want to institute real policies to impact people's lives.

Roland danced with Hillary, He is defintely a c00n

Booker engaged in c00ning behavior on the surface but underneath he was about building a black economy

I’m just saying we should split the vote until we get an economy and we can start funding candidates
