I never even knew black awards existed

(BET doesn't count)

Plenty are out there, however these Black actors, actresses and commentators wont champion them as the highest standard of award as they're desperate for acknowledgement from a white committee who are the ones voting:russell:.

It's the reason why these Black awards were created in the damn first place.

who do you think founded the academy? A mulatto? :what:
not to takeaway from the part in bold but can you name 1 prestigious black award? :jbhmm:

Wasn't disputing who made it, just saying these awards are made to represent the highest quality of filmmaking, doesn't have anything to do with skin color, the last two Oscar winners were black and Hispanic, plenty of non whites have won Emmys and Oscars. If you're a director, you want an Oscar, period.

It's up to Black actors, actresses and commentators to make them "prestigious" by holding them up to be the highest achievement for a Black actor, actress, writer etc ahead of these white awards(that have white voters). But they won't and that's the problem. Instead they'll just complain about being overlooked by a white committee :russell:.

Stop fishing for daps nikka, do I believe that these awards are for everybody.... :patrice:Well yes, considering that people of all races have won these awards. There's nothing in my statement not to believe, it's all facts.

These awards are for white people. The audience is white, the platform is white, the nominees are predominately white and most importantly the voting committee are white:snooze:. But I guess a few anomalies mean they aren't :shaq2:.

‘‘If you’ve made money being a critic in black culture in the last 20 years you have to deal with me,’’ he says. ‘‘You must have an opinion of me. You must deal with what I’m saying and deal with the consequences.’’ He pauses, considers. ‘‘If you sift through the criticism,’’ he says, ‘‘you’ll see it’s pretty evenly divided between pros and cons. But when the black critics came out with savage think pieces about ‘Django,’ I couldn’t have cared less. If people don’t like my movies, they don’t like my movies, and if they don’t get it, it doesn’t matter. The bad taste that was left in my mouth had to do with this: It’s been a long time since the subject of a writer’s skin was mentioned as often as mine. You wouldn’t think the color of a writer’s skin should have any effect on the words themselves. In a lot of the more ugly pieces my motives were really brought to bear in the most negative way. It’s like I’m some supervillain coming up with this stuff.’’

Fukk the Selma talk. Is he really that mad black people bring up some of the shyt that he pens, due to his skin color? Like, no other white director using n i g g e r in their scripts as liberally as does (and often times for no reason) would get the same heat? He's been getting the same "savage" critiques since the 90s and hasn't even stopped to check to see why people say the shyt they do. It's just pc-culture or some shyt. lmao.

Why is there never a middle ground?

Can't even argue with dumb brain dead nikkas like you. Talking all this shyt with a white man in your avi :umad:

A black award show would prove nothing, there's simply a lack of good black movies being produced for it to be relevant, just based on numbers it won't ever be relevant, you want to see a black award show, go to a country where the population is at least 70% black.

Small minded nikkas like you don't progress, won't progress.

If you make a good movie you get recognized don't matter your skin color

So by that virtue these awards are in fact "white awards" then like I said seeing how 77% of the American population are White? :jbhmm:

Along with the awards having all-White voting committees who have an average age of 63(The Academy Awards for instance):jbhmm:
