this is a silly argument - that sopmehow his behavior wasnt "suspecious" or tha it was "non threatening" - its not the 1950's ( when guns and kids doing gun violence simply wasnt an issue at all ) or the 70's or 80's when some of you probably were kids
the kid in 2014 is brandishing a replica of a REAL gun at people in a park in a city - and its dishonest or disingenuous to say this is somethign that cant be viewed as anything but benign - the shadow of kids shooting and doing mass shootings in the last 20 years ( since at least columbine in 1998 ) is in the news all the time
hes not out in the burbs or the country - hes in a metropolitan city -
lastly -the news is filled with kids shooting guns and hurting other people ..and thats not even the INTENTIONAL shootings - just teh accidental ones occur weekly if not in some instances daily - there was JUST one not even last month where a kid shot his friends/family at school
maybe the cops figured they would simply roll up and get the jump on him instead of hanging back - maybe they felt suprise was the best thing to go with instead of waiting for him to actually shoot someone
but one thing is for sure - playing with a fake gun that looks like a REAL gun in a plce where kids and guns simply are abnormal to be seen ( in the city in a park ) is a recipe for disaster ..which this was - if this kid was there with a stick acting like it was a gun youd have a point - but this was a thing that looked like a REAL gun that means he is a threat
just last year they had some kid shot in AZ or new mexico with a fake AK 47 - cops showed up and the kid refused to drop it and they shot him - it was a white kid - and that was in a rural area - to act like these cops made some kind of "crazy" decision or one that is unprecedented is saimply not being honest
