It depends on if Takeoff was an aggressor or just an innocent bystander.

In a regular situation if Quavo instigated the fight and somebody from his camp fired the first shot then the killer would have a really low chance of getting convicted if it did go to trial if Takeoff could be portrayed as a threat (as long as the gun was registered and they weren’t a felon). But things change when a celebrity is involved.

From what I read, Takeoff did nothing. He was cool and chilling. Quavo was in an argument about basketball and his man pulled out first and started bucking. Takeoff got hit immediately, then might have got hit from the othet guys. So basically it was their own people who accidentally hit Takeoff, when he wasn't even in the argument. So I'm just wondering if it becomes a murder charge with Quavo and his people possibly getting hit with the charge.

Pop Smoke, somewhat XXX and Takeoff, that’s the only ones that would be considered “huge”. Nip for instance got bigger after death. Before that Victory Lap ain’t sell shyt. He wasn’t even a gold artist. Von was pretty buzzin but he wasn’t a household name like that. PNB wasn’t huge either even tho alotta people fukked wit him. Dolph wasn’t huge. He had a nice fanbase tho. Rappers like Cole, Kendrick, Drizzy, etc etc ain’t dying left n right.
Im talking about the culture. Urban America. Those guys were huge from where I stand and observing the listening habits of people around me and venues and functions I frequented. I’m not talking about crossover or being pop which usually means having a massive white fanbase. I don’t even remember the last time I even heard nikkas in NY even bumping Kendrick Lamar and he’s a superstar. These guys that died were huge in the culture.

i listen to facts, if a cop happens to say it then so be it (and furthermore i am not even the "f all cops" pov... i live in atl where there's a hell of a lot of black cops that help folks so i'm not playing that dumb game) but all the facts show that black male violence has been going on for decades before gangster rap was at the popularity level it is now. time to find an actual resolution cuz blame rap music seems intellectually lazy and it's not going to help cuz rap aint going nowhere 🤷‍♀️

nikka ain’t nobody was bumpin no damn Nipsey Hussle everywhere. The nikkas I named were bumped everywhere. None of the other people u named share that same clout. Dolph prolly the closest. Remember me and u live in the same city. I don’t know what u be hearing tho.

just look at the direction of black youth and what we identify with

yes crime happened prior to rap...
...but we also now have the internet and yet our people are still gravitating to the same nonsense

and we dominate in violent crime

I dont know how people can ignore the implications that has on the psyche of people.

how can people be mad at what Kanye says and then turn around and say rap music has no effect?
if words mean nothing why are Jewish people mad at Kanye?

But wouldn't you say rap has changed how we as black men see eachother. Case in the real nikka vs the square

Nah this more of a case of jealousy. Uneasy feelings being in the room with the nikka that gets all the money and bad bytches.

Equivalent of the jackboys robbing and killing the drug dealers back in the 80s.

Ironically enough that tended to go down at dice games and gambling spots as well. This shyt been going on in our community way before any of us were born.

Consumers. The culture.

Polo G and Kodak Black are two of my favorite artists from this generation.

I said it in a post awhile back in NYC there were two teenage rappers a decade apart. There was one who was an industry plant with a performing arts school background who branded himself as a conscious MC and the other was a drill rapper who got signed off the strength of the streets getting behind him. These rappers are Joey BADA$$ and Kay Flock and guess who did way more numbers in way less time off their first single.

I’ve already spoken on how Chief Keef came into the game as the complete opposite of what blog era label A&R’s were looking for (the clean cut, 20 something year old, every man rapper) and he did it off the strength of a viral hit and the culture.

We choose.

What makes you think Joey is a plant?

I’ve seen nikkas get sent to the hospital over Spades. Dominos. Plenty people get killed over poker games. Gambling is a sin in the Bible for a reason. It’s been dangerous since the beginning of time. shyt look at how the MOB had the gambling shyt on lock and look at the violence associated with that. It’s like muthafukkas live a sheltered life and don’t know anything about the history of the world around them.

Many years ago, 2010, I was playing spades in the projects, one of my boys and his cousin and his cousin's girl. And me and the girl got real crazy with the wordplay, my boy had to diffuse me and his cousin from turning it into something else...

I've been on cell blocks where shyt goes left over gambling on anything, dudes get jumped or cut or robbed, all that...

I don't know if you assumed I wasn't aware of this, but I already know these situations can get hectic really fast. Extremely, extremely rare for a dust up about monopoly money and Uno to end in homicide, it doesnt happen to any measurable degree...

But it isn't rare for dice games to turn violent which is the topic that poster and I were talking about...
