I wouldn't say it's the best and I don't like it for the same reason that he listed but it IS the most underrated season. It is a wonderfully written season that I didn't appreciate until I started rewatching the series. I wouldn't be mad at anyone thinking it was the best.

Season 2 is good but season 3 can actually go toe 2 toe with any shows best season.
Everybody knows season 4 was the best season.

He has a fair point.....
The entire foundation of the Wire was built on the information from Season 2 and it showed the dynamic of the show wasn't just about the streets and drugs but it didn't have half the highs from seasons 1,3 & 4. from a world building case, I see what he's saying but from a payout and story climax point, no way.

Season 4 and it's not even close.
I’ve only watched it through once but I think I would go with the same order. Maybe flip 4 and 3

I've felt the same way, but i feel like 3 wins just on the strength of Avon & Stringer's friendship ending.
Season 5 wasn't bad but it was clearly time for the show to end.Season 2 was good but Season 3/4 was the best
Season 5 doesn't get talked about.
Damn shame nikkas call themselves Wire fans but have never watched Season 2
