I mean, yes, Lawrence had a lot of potential, but only when he realized he was on his own. Issae cared for him, but he was being a bum in season 1. Gotta admit that. The show tried to be slick and be like "Well, if Lawrence was more of a MAN, your girlfriend wouldn't had cheated" but I didn't buy that for a second. Issae had the right to get mad, but what she did was foul.

Anyway I didn’t know SZA was a proud thot, very interesting.

He basically graduated from a really good college with honors. He had a focus in IT. He had an app/program he was trying to pitch to those Silicon Valley tech companies. Nothing materialized for years and he just lived with his girl off of his savings. She had a dead end job and started resenting him. She convinced him to stop dreaming and just get any job. He agreed for their sake and got a job at Best Buy. She still went and fukked someone else. He then gets a big job with his app so it turns out she should have believed in him after all. He finds out she cheated and leaves her by the end of the first season.

I knew he wouldn’t be down for long. They were showing us signs of where he came from. When I saw that big body Jag he was driving, I knew that he had parents who were upper middle class and had expectations of him. That was confirmed later in the series.

The women hated him so much because they saw themselves in Issa, as they’ve let a good brotha go, that they should have locked down. They really were going around calling him trash...
