2007 (Batista vs. Undertaker): 341,000 buys
2008 (John Cena vs. Chris Jericho): 319,000 buys
2009 (John Cena vs. Triple H and Shawn Michaels): 235,000 buys
2010 (Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett): 244,000 buys
2011 (The Rock and John Cena vs. R-Truth and The Miz): 281,000 buys
2012 (CM Punk vs. Ryback vs. John Cena): 212,000 buys

So according to the dirtsheets, after the pleasant surprise of HiaC, Vince and Co were looking to the next PPV to see if Ryback was the next big draw. Doesn't appear to be the case. So where do they go from here?

Of course all of this has more to do with outside circumstances and the WWE/pro wrestling as a whole being in downward slope but lets continue to ignore that for now

Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 07.05.2012

How did the Series do?

- The updated buyrate for the 2011 Survivor Series stands at 312,000 buys, 179,000 of then being domestic buys. That is up from 2010's total buyrate of 244,000. [Credit: Wrestling Observer]

That last minute Cena add on? Not good business. Again.

Gotta move in new direction. Cena and Punk aint gettin it done.
But that's the point, they were looking at Ryback as possibly this new direction and they were looking at the buys of this PPV as a determining factor.

You guys can spin and blame and try to protect your favorites but all of that is irrelevant because this is about how Vince and Co see it.

Eh just evidence that the main even scene has gotten stale. Peeps were hyped to see Ryback and Punk at HIAC with the streak vs the strap but after the fukkery that took place then it was clear the title wasn't gonna change hands for a while. Then at the Cena factor and people just are gonna stream it.
