Did you have any confrontations with Cuson or Calderone's people?

What is the most fukked up shyt you dun seen?
I saw a lot of terrible things. It came to a point that someone could die in front of your eyes and you'd be back out on the same corner the next day laughing and joking around, that's how much killing we dealt with, we were numb and indifferent.

Also saw a lot of grimy shyt happen to women. We had no respect for our sisters in that era. That to me was one of the most shameful aspects.

So you folded?
Everyone did. You had to rent corners actually in most parts of the city back then. The biggest killers "bought" spots. Going to war with dudes just because was very rare. At the end of the day we hustled for money, not to prove we were the realest gangsters in the city. Shooting it out with a two dozen heavily armed killers was not good business.

how has the neighborhood changed? any specific parts of the bronx/harlem that are still the same?
None of it is the same. Most of it has changed for the better. The West Side/Central Harlem are very different obviously but I didn't grow up on that side. East Harlem is moving in that direction but NYCHA is still the biggest landlord so the community persists. The South Bronx has mostly changed for the better too. There are two family homes in the stretches of vacant lots where we used to hustle on 140th. More recreational opportunities for kids, businesses, etc. Back then if you didn't have business in that area you had no business at all passing through.
