Seems like he has a steel chin to me too

Daniel Jacobs will answer that question on Saturday for good:patrice:

If neither Daniel Jacobs, Curtis Stevens, or David Lemieux can even rock you, then you have to have a titanium chin :lupe:

Did anybody see GGG rocked in the ring last night?

If not.....:wow:

Re-watched the fight using the logic of close rounds go to the champion because that's how the judges claim they scored it...

For the record I do not agree with that logic, I only award close rounds to the champ in fights like Lara/Nelo where the champ is pressing the fight and the other is on his bike averaging 5 punches thrown a round...That IMO is not boxing nor worthy of taking a champs belt...Same can be said for Leonard trying to steal rounds from Hagler...Just like there is ineffective aggression, there is also ineffective punching...Just because a punch lands that doesn't mean it was quality...A quality effective punch stops a guy in his tracks...A nine slap flurry the champ walks through unscathed may look good but is not effective punching...

97g did fair well on the outside with his jab, visibly snapping Danny's head back but Danny ate him up inside...Almost every time they exchanged hands Danny won and the power punches breakdown backs that assessment up...Danny was extremely effective going to the body in this fight...

Weisfeld card was particularly odd to me...He was the only one to score rounds 2 and 7 for 97g and was also the only one to score round 3 for Danny...He had it 115-112 for 97g...

Jacobs - 97g

9-10 (All three judges agree)
10-9 (two of the three judges scored this round for Danny)
10-9 (two of the three judges scored this round for 97g)
8-10 (All three judges agree)

114-113 Jacobs

I said it during the fight and after re-watching I firmly stand by it...Round 3 was CLEARLY won by Danny and compubox even backs that up...Compubox has the breakdown as 14/41 for 97g and 12/44 for Danny but Danny landed 9/22 power punches compared to just 4/12 for 97g...I wouldn't call anything 97g landed in that round effective, basically kept following Danny and tossing the jab which was crisp but didn't stop Danny...Danny pressed him more in this round and let his hands go hence the power numbers, best punch of the round was a left hook by Danny towards the 30 second mark...

Macklin in his prime...Pavlik....Barker, Punisher 2x are a better run than GGG had.

A PPV with Chavez at 38 or a no name GGG?
Punisher was a WW and JR. MW max though.
Barker and Macklin are solid euro level fighters, nothing exceptional.
Pavlik was drunk and shot, that is his best win.

Better than GGG, its about even after tonight, because Jacobs is better than any fighter Sergio fought. Sergio could have fought Quillin in 2011 or 2012 and refused to, its his fault his legacy is so shyt.

Its become painfully obvious to me HBO commentary is an enormous problem for boxing...

Fans rather listen to these company fighter stanning morons (aside for Roy) than actually use their own eyes to score the fight...

That's the only reason I can think of for why anybody would think this was a close fight...

Personally I am officially done with HBO boxing till Lampley either retires or is canned...

HBO PPVs will be watched on boxnation from now on...

HBO & particularly Lampley have been doing this since Fishnets was their cash cow. George Foreman was just as guilty too.

GGG clearly wins the first 3 rounds and knocks him down in the 4th

Watched the fight this morning.

The basically fought on even term and it was a close fight. I will watch it again, but I don't agree with the gift/robbery talk in a fight like this.
