after a lot of googling, there seems to be a very mixed take on this, and provable circumstances have to be just right to fully absolve a defender who injures a bystander. some places even saying it's illegal to fire if you're in clear thread of endangering others, but there's absolutely no way a civilian can injure a dozen people in self defense and get let off, it would be proof they acted recklessly which would negate any defense.

these are all criminal activity shootings where people are long distance targeting someone/shooting dangerously. responsible gun owners who carry for protection aren't going to be driving on a motorcycle shooting at the person who robbed them or running down the block spraying at who grabbed their purse. the only way to legally use your gun in self defense is grave imminent threat - this is someone with a gun on you, someone beating the shyt out of you, someone who has grabbed you on their way to raping you - CCW doesn't give you the right to shootouts, legal gun use is for close quarter confrontation. it's wild we can quickly compartmentalize who actually are criminals/doing criminal behavior when it comes to defending certain groups, then we're going to ascribe criminal behavior to the majority because of something legal we dont like....like huh?

that same high density is the reason most people won't ever need to use their gun. how many life threatening attacks (this matters as this is the only way a defender will be legally absolved of using their gun) are happening in densely populated areas right now? not many because paths for escape are few and far between. you'd have to have a lot of life threatening crime happening in dense areas for defensive bystander shootings to jump.

but you're working yourself into a panic over stats that haven't proven to be true in lax CCW areas so i'm gonna leave this alone because there's no point in arguing with personal opinion

Does not your statement prove his point? They were two white men who wanted more freedom than what they already had in carrying a gun, but our law abiding people (Black) in NYC were restricted from carrying at all unless we had connections in the licensing process.
