The news is already covering it less by august or september, this will be gone from front pages and dem voters will forget, what people will vote on is inflation, gas prices and the supply chain issues. The dem voters simply dont vote in the midterms, republicans always show up no matter what

its not even worth blaming the court at this point tbh. it should have been fukkin codified :snoop:

i guess it's time to get realistic about accepting the 15 week compromise that seems to appear in a lot of moderate areas. which, frankly, doesnt seem THAT unreasonable to me. you know you're pregnant within 8 weeks, you have another 7 to get the abortion, at which point the fetus is feeling pain

given some of these alternatives, i dont really have a problem with that

15 weeks is only 4 months. There are abnormalities that are not detectable until later. Plus, earliest viability outside the womb is 21 weeks I believe. That should be the minimum.

Abortions in red states won't stop, legal abortions in red states will. That just makes them more dangerous and creates incentives for other dangerous was to induce an abortion to make a comeback. The fallout from this ruling is just beginning.

There are also other stupid rulings (e.g. WV v. EPA) coming down the line that will also have chilling effects on our country.

It'll probably have a similar effect as the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings with regard to electoral outcomes.

A 1995 documentary on the Janes:

It has a couple cringy moments (i.e. "Everyone was getting their rights exept women"), but the interviews were great.

That was a great group of ladies.

It's interesting that the group originated from the University of Chicago.
The first abortion was organized in 1965 by the founding Jane, one year after Bernie graduated there in political sciences...

It is interesting how much of progressive political thought came from the same university that gave us the Chicago boys...

He’s a man, women aren’t just going to forget this happened. They literally were stripped of healthcare and human rights.

Didn't most white women vote for Trump knowing full well this was his goal? I mean it's not like it was a secret that the GOP wanted to overturn Roe v Wade.

Not saying people will "forget" it but it's hard to see the needle being moved in any significant way. :yeshrug:
