Jack Hawksmoor is rumored to be a villain and what you can do with that character is potentially visually stunning.
I'm just waiting on more casting and who's scoring this thing.

nah, $800M is pretty much the new billion with the way theaters have been suffering. They still aren't all the way back to 2019 levels. Maybe they will be by 2025 but I doubt it.
It's all about how you budget it. If they can keep the budget somewhat modest they can make a huge profit off less box office return.

I trust Gunn to translate Hawksmoore in a way that isn't too convoluted for audiences.
Again this is about the visual spectacle for that portion of the audience that want Doomsday and Brainiac out of the gate.
It's good middle ground, because you're not getting that from Lex.
And it's a character they can give Nicholas Hoult. (Cillian Murphy tested for Batman before ending up as Scarecrow).

I mortality thing might be too heavy for the first movie. Peacemaker, Guardians, and SS all had a parent-child dynamic at its core.
I think that’s what will lifted from All Star. “ They will join you in the sun” might be the arc of the movie. That Superman is struggling with the heroes coming along in his wake. I think visually, we will be getting the weirder stuff inspired by all Star.
there’s been a tendency to keep Superman in a dull, grey world. Metropolis,Smallville, and the Fortress are 90% of the action.

In Guardians of the Galaxy every action scene is played for laughs.
So Gunn has no idea how to do serious action and that's what Superman requires.
Which Snyder understood on a fundamental level, but Gunn doesn't
So he's probably going to do Superman Returns part 2 with a smidgen of action and it's going to be weak.
And no matter what Gunn does with this movie nothing will compare with Superman's first flight from Man of Steel or his fight vs Faora and Zod
